The Evo5 Beacon is officially Arva's smallest and lightest option for backcountry touring, and it touts a greater digital range than the Evo4. Despite its shrunken size, the Evo5 has a larger screen that's backlit for viewing in lower light, and it's super simple to use with a three-position slider and a single button—both are glove-friendly. This beacon comes fully featured with group check, mark function, and automatic revert-to-transmit modes, and a unique carry strap that lets you carry the beacon in multiple ways.
Next up is the Access TS shovel, which is lightweight, compact, and most importantly easy to use. Its telescoping shaft lets you pick the length that will be most efficient for whatever scenario you're in, and the large aluminum blade can move large amounts of snow for fast digging. The probe is light, too, and is simple to deploy in an emergency, thanks to its quick locking system and dependable Kevlar tension cord. It features a textured grip at the top, which makes it easy to operate, even with wet gloves on.

Probe fell apart with light use
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 240
This is just to comment on their probes. I had their Carbon 40 compact. Did a refresher Avy class and a mock probe line. After 30 min use in soft snow the tip broke off and the probe was ruined. Would hate to think of using it in an actual avalanche debris. Buyer beware.
