CE EN 12492 certification indicates that the helmet has been tested and meets specific safety standards for climbing and mountaineering. This certification ensures that the helmet provides adequate protection against impacts, complying with European health, safety, and environmental regulations. Choosing a helmet with this certification means you are investing in a product that prioritizes your safety during climbing activities.
My head measures around 18.5 cm (7 3/8 in) with a soft tape measure. The size M/L works excellent for me with plenty of adjustment room to wear a hat or thin toque underneath. I have used this helmet for both ice and rock climbing, with no issues or complaints. The headlamp clips have come in handy and never failed. I personally really like the chin strap buckle. It has a magnetic attachment, which helps to guide the buckle when securing. Quite easy to unlatch as well as adjust the fit. Very lightweight and doesn't dent or show wear like many Black Diamond helmets I've used in the past. Would not advise putting this helmet in your checked bag if you're going on a climbing trip though... Lesson learned the hard way. If you're a lady reading this, there is a female specific version that works better with a ponytail, which my wife uses and loves.
This is my first climbing helmet. Used this past summer on via ferrata and a couple of Colorado 14ers. Super light and comfortable--vents well in hot temps. The adjustable harness for the noggin pushes down into helmet, so I'm not worried about it breaking when shoving helmet into pack. Looking forward to using it this winter from some ski touring/winter climbs. Overall, great helmet.
The helmet itself is light, comfortable, and well ventilated. It also has a thin plastic shell to help protect the softer foam from the kind of light touch damage the bd vapor and vector suffer from. It even comes with a bag! The bag is a joke however. It only fits about 2/3 of the helmet. We've tried all orientations, and the only way the helmet almost fits is crown down, with the opening by the opening, but even then you can't close the bag. The bag is a cheap material anyway. You'd think they would have sprung for an extra 2° worth of material to actually cover the helmet, or not include the joke of a bag at all.
This is not only a super light and comfortable helmet, it is very durable. I bang it up quite a bit, but it still doesn't have dents. I like the clips for ski goggles or a headlamp, as it's easy to put on and feels secure. The one flaw is that the magnetic buckle on the helmet strap collects dirt and can get in the way of buckling it sometimes. Can be quite annoying.
I use M/L size and head circunference is about 58 cm and the helmet has more centimeter of advantage for bigger heads or to use it with bandana, balaclava or beenie.
