Really enjoying it so far, very functional including with bulky cold-weather gloves and getting drenched by horizontal rain at 1am while boogeying away from a flash flood situation. My only (tiny) gripe is that the battery level indicator LEDs shine on my face for a second or two before shutting off
Doesn’t get much better than this! New improved headband and overall headlamp size brings down the weight from previous years.
I now own 3 of these guys, I love them! Lots of modes and killer battery life!
I like the concept of this headlamp (large rechargeable battery, bright, has a red light) but it was heavier than I expected. The battery indicator light is also unfortunately positioned on the bottom of the headlamp in such a way that when you turn on and off the light, the blue light of the indicator disrupts your night vision.
I love this headlamp! I was worried the battery may not have sufficient life or not handle the cold well, but I've been blown away with its performance on both fronts! Highly recommend this to anyone needing lighting for an early morning climbing mission.
Storm-R wasn’t as good as my cheaper Cosmo. You can see my picture where the new Storm-R is fully charged and set to the highest level on the left versus new batteries in my Cosmo at high level on the right. The Cosmo is significantly brighter and of course lighter. The Storm-R costs so much more and boasted better performance but it was disappointing. I contacted Black Diamond to see if was maybe a defect but never heard back. Backcountry didn’t have any more in stock to try a replacement and offered a return but I’m still hoping to hear back from Black Diamond.
This is easy to use with simple buttons to cycle through the different options and brightness. The best part is that it’s rechargeable!
After years of abuse my old one died. I hope this one last through as many climbs, trainings and rescues.
Great headlamp gets the job done in any conditions
Got myself two of these and a portable solar charger panel for me and my wife. Haven’t need new headlamps since. Actually have had a few friends ditch their headlamps to start using these just cause they have great battery life and every feature you’d need.
