Hookless rims provide a more aerodynamic profile and allow for a better tire fit, especially with wider tires. This design enhances traction and stability, particularly on rough terrain, making it ideal for cyclists who ride in varied conditions. Additionally, hookless rims can reduce the risk of pinch flats, improving overall performance.
We setup these wheels to be used on a gravel bike with 29 x 2.20 inch tires. They work great. Normally these deep wheels would be a problem with our cross winds, but with this big of a tire and the slower speeds of our gravel rides, the deep wheels are hardly an issue. Easy to install tires, vertically compliant, comfortable, confident descenders, look great, 28mm tires inflate to 30mm (after taking a few rides to stretch out) Originally reviewed on Competitivecyclist.com
As a snowbird I have two identical road bikes separated by a thousand miles. The Northernmost bike was mounted with 303 s a couple years ago. After trying 404 and 404 NSW, the Southernmost bike now sports 303 s. For hills and wind this wheel shines as an all rounder. Originally reviewed on Competitivecyclist.com
I've had these for the better part of two years, and they're great. I use them on my gravel bike. They're lighter than my aluminum gravel wheelset. They are also aero and reasonably stiff. I have swapped between 28mm road-type tubeless tires when I want to take the gravel bike on the road, and 40mm gravel tires for gravel. The wheels are at home on either terrain. The tubeless setup has been flawless. The biggest issue I have had is the freehub design is held in by friction and if it comes out you sometimes have to remove the entire cassette in order to get to properly re-seat the seal. (I thought I previously reviewed these but my review seems to have disappeared.) Originally reviewed on Competitivecyclist.com
303S wheelset is good to go. The factory tape is solid with no leaks. Freehub has some noise but is nice and quiet compared to my GRC1400 screamers. Bought these as a second set for tarmac. Installed road tires on them. I appreciate the lower noise level on downhill runs. The GRCs would drive me crazy while coasting downhill sections....too loud! Anyways, great value wheel that is just as good as the other set I have that cost considerably more and they weigh about the same. 30mm Contis spec'd at 30.5mm once installed. Get'em and rip!
These are fine. They look good, but the hub engagement is low and “clangy” with any dead space in the cadence. I am currently shopping for a nicer set of wheels and considering either selling these or replacing the hubs. End of day… I’d avoid them. Originally reviewed on Competitivecyclist.com
