Packing high levels of warmth within a sleek, lightweight design, the Arc'teryx Men's Nuclei SL Insulated Jacket ensures maximum comfort through cold-weather cragging, ice climbing, and mountaineering exploits. The Arato 10 nylon shell is extremely lightweight, enabling easy stashing within the included stuff sack, which conveniently clips to your climbing harness. The shell's DWR treatment repels outside moisture to keep you pleasantly dry through passing snow and rain showers.
Higher levels of Coreloft insulation through the body (80-gram) ensures fiery warmth where it's needed most, with slightly less (60-gram) through the sleeves and side panels to reduce overall bulk. The No Slip Zip closure allows you to unzip a portion of the jacket for better ventilation without the entire portion unzipping during rapid movement. Other key features include insulated, zippered hand pockets, as well as a slim fit with Arc'teryx's Ergonomic 3D patterning for unrestricted movement.

This light insulated jacket is perfect for layering under a shell in really cold conditions, or as an outer layer in cool to cold weather. One correction - it has 60g of Coreloft throughout, not 80g in the body as described. The Nuclei Hoody and Nuclei FL jacket have the extra torso insulation. IMO, this makes the SL more versatile here in the SW, where temps rarely get below 15 degrees. For its weight, it's impressively warm. Breathability is adequate unless you're really working hard, but it does block 100% of the wind, so I prefer it as an outer layer, especially in windy conditions.
No other insulated jacket I've tried fits quite as well as this Arcteryx piece. The fit is perfect for long, lanky critters like me. This has become my favorite light insulated jacket. Plus, it looks really smooth!
Sure doesn't appear this has a hood?? This seems a new piece; doesn't even appear on the Arc'Teryx website yet but a few other online retailers are also offering. I've yet to see a pic of this w/ a hood -- maybe an oversight?
Hey David - The hooded version of this jacket is the Arc'teryx Nuclei FL Hooded Insulated Jacket (Item #ARC00BS). Looks like there is a mistake in the Tech Specs for this version that we will get fixed. Here is a picture of the hooded version being worn from Arc'teryx's website. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
