Warm and Stylish
- Familiarity:

I bought this after a poor experience with sizing on some nice UBR coats. The Arcteryx is a bit more accommodating as far as fit goes yet it still maintains that modern urban and sleek look. It is also very warm and able to combat the elements. Perfect for urban winters in places like the Midwest. I fluctuate between 180-200 at 5'10 and find that I am in between M and L. I might add the sizing is true to size based on a trimmer fit; not necessarily slim, but trim. I like the trim/less boxy look though and so I went for the Medium as I could pull it off without it looking too tight and considering that I would likely not be wearing several thicker layers underneath. I can finally settle on a longer winter coat - thanks to Backcountry for dealing with the returns/exchanges too!

Awesome jacket, fitment is perfect!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:

- Weight

Jacket fits like glove. I ordered my usual Arcteryx size S. It is plenty warm in the 15-30F days In the windy city. Wish they have this jacket with the detachable hood. There are two hidden zip pockets, one is internal and one is external (does not require unzipping of the front zipper). The external zip pocket is behind the lapel so it is hidden and a convenient place to store a cell phone.

My initial impressions of this coat were very positive. It is very lightweight, easy to put on, and easy to move with it on. Where it fell short for me is the length and warmth. I tried this outside on mid-30 degree day and was quite cold. A little extra down and a couple of more inches longer would have made a huge different. This would not cut it in actual cold weather without a significant extra layer.

Can't wait to battle the Chicago weather
- Familiarity:

- Small

I love everything about this coat - in particular the fit and the construction. I haven't battled the sub-zero Chicago weather with it yet, but I'm confident it's going to keep me cozy during my 15 minute walk to and from the train/office. I also love that the zipper is two-way so I can unzip the bottom slightly when sitting down to give me a little more room. As far as size, I originally ordered a Medium and returned it to get a Small. I'm 5'10" and 170 lbs. I would say that this jacket is "true to fit" however, I like my coats slightly more fitted and I felt that the Medium had a little extra room in the chest/midsection than I needed. I replaced it with a Small and it is perfect (a little more of a tailored fit but the sleeves are still plenty long and I can still very comfortably layer with a large sweater or vest underneath). I also like the style - simple, clean, and cool urban coat without any flashy logos, etc. (e.g., Canada Goose, etc.). Finally, I see some don't like the hood as much; however, I think it will be key during sub-zero weather and I think it is well placed and functional. I'll update my review once I use it in the cold!

Top quality, strange fit
- Familiarity:

I had to return it because it felt really tight underarms. I have muscles but not huge ones, am proportionately built and never had sizing or fitting issues with any Arcteryx item. But after two days of hesitation and putting this parka on and off, with and without a mid-layer, I had to return it. Additionally: - they should have added some soft material to protect the chin - now the jacket is too stiff to my taste; - the side pockets do not have insulation and should have been bigger to fit normal insulated gloves; - the chest pockets are passable but could also be made bigger. Finally, think of sizing up if you are upper M or between M and L. That said, if it were not feeling uncomfortable underarms, I would have kept it- top quality, looks great, acceptable (for such quality) price.

I've read reviews that its puffy around mid section, well not for me, go figure. I'm 5'10 170, wear a 42 S suit size, and normally wear Large, I got this in medium and it fits good. I love the style, and its super light, crazy light! I haven't tested it yet in any snow or below freezing temperatures, but in the 40's I cant even feel if its cold outside or not, its like I don't feel anything, just perfect temperature. Ill update my review when I test this in extreme weather, but so far, amazing jacket, I don't regret buying at all,
