The best pants for the toughest trails.

Perfect for hiking and trekking, the Arc'teryx Sylvite Women's Pant provides killer stretchy, breathability, and durability in a lightweight and comfortable package. Arc'teryx' Aequore AirPerm fabric is a mouthful, but it's also seriously efficient when the trail's hot and dusty, so you won't get excessively sweaty or uncomfortable. A gusseted crotch and articulated knees provide easy mobility, and the integrated belt makes it easy to loosen or tighten the structured waistband as it sits comfortably under a pack's waistbelt. There's a single zippered thigh pocket for a map or phone, and the hand pockets are lined with mesh to increase breathability and moisture wicking properties.

Comfy - Stylish - Practical

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 8
  • Height: 5'8"
  • Weight: 155lbs

These pants not only feel great on, they perform just as well. They have the ideal amount of stretch, but never lose their shape (bulge in knee or bag in the butt). I sport some hips, muscular thighs, flat stomach, and proportional waist, and these pants are flattering. They aren't loose on the thigh, but they aren't squeezing either, just right. The material is light weight, and very durable. They even shed light water/rain. They are perfect for hiking (or travel), and still stylish enough to wear to a nice brewery for dinner. They breathe very well, which is extra desirable when you get yourself into some humid rain forest area. I have several hiking pants in other brands, and these have replaced those in the decision tree and have become my top choice every time.

Perfect for hiking

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 6
  • Height: 5'10"
  • Weight: 140lbs

I originally bought these thinking they might be good for long hikes and sport climbs. Climbing - the fit just doesn't work as well as other Arc'teryx pants I have in the same size. So I use them for lighter activities, and they work great with my small and large packs when hiking. I do have muscular legs and glutes, so I think that may be why these don't have the range of motion I need for climbing. All in all, I do really love the feel and how light they are - they keep me cool on hot days, and you can't beat Arc'teryx durability.

Great hiking pants for the desert

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 8
  • Height: 5'8"
  • Weight: 132lbs

I live in the desert and at first was skeptical that these pants would work out for me. So many of the fabrics which indicate they are to keep one cool don't work as well in hot and dry climates. We don't have to worry and about wading through streams, etc. and many of the synthetic fabrics seem to seal in body heat in this type of climate. Happy to report these pants do work really well in the desert. I ordered the Iron Anvil, and size 8 fits pretty well, I have a small frame and the legs are roomy on me but the waist and fit through the seat and crotch are perfect. After having worn the pants a number of times I find that the room in the legs is actually great. More pockets might be perfect, however, I wonder if filling the pockets with too much stuff might be a problem because of the lightweight fabric. I do love the zippered pocket for ID and credit card, etc. I was worried about the 32" length because I have long legs but the pants seem to be a generous 32" length. Now I want another pair!

Love it! My perfect pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 4
  • Height: 5'7"
  • Weight: 130lbs

I bought these on sale a few months ago and have worn them on numerous day hikes since then. Just got back from a four day backpack in the High Sierras so have now put them thru enough to review.

First the bad: I almost sent them back bc the stone color, a light gray, is a little see thru. All my hiking underwear is solid and not too far from my skin tone so not so noticeable but patterns would not work. This likely isn't an issue with the darker colors, and maybe why these were on sale. I now want to get them in purple too.

The good: They are super stretchy, lightweight, tough, and stay put. I bouldered up a few peaks and the built-in belt kept the pants in place while they got super roomy around the legs as I lunged and scrapped and manuevered. I never felt constricted. The waistband was comfortable under the pack belt. I was especially impressed when I took a tumble and skinned my knee. The fall broke skin and yet didn't tear the pants. I also skidded on my butt down a few rough granite slabs and no holes. They are super lightweight I wouldn't have been surprised to experience more wear and tear. I'm not sure they'll last forever, but considering the use I'm getting out of them I don't expect them to. Finally, temps dropped into the 30s and they kept me warm enough without a base layer while I made bkfst and then got moving.

Amazing Quality, not for Muscular Legs

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 2x32
  • Height: 5'5"
  • Weight: 119lbs

These are incredibly well-made. The fabric is tough, has just the right amount of give, and has a great range of motion. I'd highly-recommend these to anyone, but not if you have muscular legs. They're not as roomy in the upper thigh area as I'd need, and unfortunately the light stone-gray color makes this *ahem* awkwardly obvious. Would definitely try another cut in Arc-teryx pants.

Do they have a DWR finish?

Hey Jan, these pants will not incorporate a DWR coating. The reason being that they are meant to be incredibly air permeable. The Aequora AirPerm fabric was specifically design to be incredibly breathable. If they were to put a DWR finish on the pant it would drastically reduce the air permeability of the pant.
