    Rho AR Bottom

Plush, stretchy fabric makes the Men's Rho AR Bottom ideal for resort riding in cold weather. This heavyweight layer sits close to your skin in order to provide ample warmth and to help move moisture from the surface of your skin to the surface of the fabric where it can evaporate away or breathe through top layers.

    • Next-to-ski fit keeps the insulating fabric close for warmth
    • Polartec Power Stretch fabric has plenty of flexibility so you can move freely, and the material feels plush and soft
    • Flatlocked seams eliminate seam bulges that would cause chafing where two fabrics join together
    • Wide elastic waistband won't bunch or rub uncomfortably

    Five out of five...

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 155lbs

Received these with super fast shipping. And just in time for a heavy Nor easter style storm. Spent the day outside in these... shoveling... and didnt sweat with slow steady work, then went snowshoeing about four miles, slow and steady work as well.. and never soaked thru as i do with other heavy type base layers. As for the feel? They feel like wonderful new school clothes on the first day of class,...warm... perfect-fitting.. comfortable and stylish. I normally buy a large in Arcteryx tops and jackets because of the more... form fitting type styles they've gone over too, as if everyone were the perfect weight and size. However, given these were listed as stretchy... i chose to take a chance with the suggested “medium” size. Im 5’7” tall and weigh 155 lbs (right now), and they are not to tight nor are they too loose either. My waist is 33”.. and the mediums are The perfect size. If they should shrink a tiny bit in the wash, which they shouldn't, they would still fit perfectly, because of the stretchiness.... and likewise... if they were to loosen up from wear... they would be just as comfortable. Another words, due to the materials and stretchy materials.. they have a wide range of room inside towards either “waist size” of the spectrum. Another problem ive had in the past with other Arcteryx materials and bottoms, was the tightness in the thighs. I have massive thighs, and these do NOT squeeze me there as i work, walk, or wear them under-ski/snow pants... and also feel very good under dockers and jeans too. Which was quite a surprise. They are warm indoors for extended periods of time if one should choose to stop to visit a friend whose home is seventy degrees or above like some do... So recommend outdoors use for fun and play... and would recommend the lighter base layers for holiday visiting, city, and town business (shopping and errands etc etc).

    Excellent with Stinger Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"

I've been wearing the Stinger shell pants from Arc'Teryx and couldn't figure out how to stay warm skiing in temperatures from the 20s to low 30s. My solution was two pairs of long underwear. I finally bought these and I'm able to wear a single base layer now and staying really warm. I can imagine wearing these for other things like cold sporting events or easy snow hikes.

    Cold weather hero

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 6'1"

I bought these bottoms for my boyfriend who is a commercial diver in the great lakes. He's often diving in suuuper cold temperatures and needed a thick performance baselayer to keep him comfortable while he works. He absolutely loves these bottoms. They hold up through multiple days of aggressive wear in a row and, in true Arc'teryx fashion, he's been using the same pair for several years now and only just got another pair. They're warm, thick, and versatile as he can also wear them under his shell pants for skiing.

Great base layer for the coldest days

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I bought these tights for some additional warmth on the coldest days and nights. Standard Arc'teryx quality: solidly constructed, comfortable, high performing, and really warm. The fleece feels really nice against the skin. I could see these being too warm if warn on a balmy winter day.

    A Toasty Tight

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Arc'teryx has always been known for their quality and craftsmanship, and their base layers are no exception to this. I was a little discouraged to get these with the price tag that comes along with it but have to say that these are the insulating bottoms that I have always needed.

I am an active Dry Suit Diver in the winter and found that my regular leggings just would not cut it. These however, remain stream lined, low profile, and WARM! Being submerged under 50 degree water for up to an hour and half at the time can really make your teeth start to chatter but I think my dentist will be happy to see that they stopped.

When I take to the land, the Rho AR really take care of me. They are perfect for cold touring days and are the best layer under my shell while resort riding. My buns used to get cold on the lift but now remain comfortable throughout the whole day. Coming out of the mountains, these have become my favorite running tight as the compression really keeps my blood flowing, but also keeps any excess fabric from getting in the way of each step. On top of that, the right thigh pocket is perfect for a house key while on the run, or a ski pass, ID and credit card while on the mountain.

I was surprised to see that I wore a size small since I generally wear a medium in other brands but when consulting the size chart, it was spot on.

If you have any questions please shoot me an email at or call me directly at 801-204-4679. I would be more than happy to see if these are right for you, and find a different base layer if these are not what you need.

Not a bad product, just a bad price

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 215lbs

Folks, these are simple, no frills long underwear. They're fine, really. You can buy them all day long anywhere from any manufacturer for right around half the price. Do yourself a the cheaper one. You'll be just as happy. No kidding.

    Great baselayer

I rely on my rho ar top for the cold days, or as a single layer when I am really working hard. It was just a matter of time before I got this pants, based on how much I like the top. I am not sure why most reviews dislike the sizing, as that fact held me back for a while. I am 6'3" and slim and the size large fits like the chart says, the medium was just too tight in the crotch. These are not meant to be compression fit, but they hug my legs nicely... I have not found them to be oversized at all, and I am pretty skinny. Don't hesitate to buy these, and definitely try your size first without sizing down immediately. Can't wait to get these out in the cold.

Warm for those zero and sub zero days.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 195lbs

Got these for those sub zero days. So far they are very warm in temps down to -15. Got the large size as thats what I usually wear but I think the medium would have been a better fit for me in these. Thought about returning them but size medium is/was out of stock. Arcteryx sizing seems to run all over the board for me.

Great base layer or running pant.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I really like these pants. I wear these with the atom lt pants on cold days and am nice and. Toasty.
