Norvan VT GTX Trail Running Shoe

Despite the fact that the Arc'teryx Men's Norvan VT GTX Trail Running Shoe isn't a living creature, it has a disposition that's akin to a trail-eating monster—trait inheritance that's indicative of Arc'teryx's alpine-rich heritage. So it should be no surprise that the Norvan VT GTX Trail Running Shoe has a predisposition for tackling steep vert and varied terrain like it was born to.

The TPU overlays provide torsional rigidity and support, without causing hot spots and discomfort, while stretch mesh panels not only provide ample breathability, but also flex and mold to your foot's shape for a pressure-free fit. A fixed internal stretch bootie safeguards your foot from debris and is extremely quick-drying and comfortable, so you can wear it with or without socks. To differentiate the Norvan VT GTX from its elder sibling, this running shoe is equipped with a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex stretch insert. This feature protects your foot from getting soaked during long, wet runs.

The most important part of the Norvan's design is its Adjustable 360 Support System. This provides you with the best of both worlds by allowing you to switch from climb to run mode in minimal time. When running, simply tie the laces and adjust the drawcord to your preference. To employ climb mode, cinch the drawcord down as snugly as you can and carry on with your objective. A blended midsole of EVA and polyolefin attenuates shock, provides energy transfer, and assures a swift transition, ensuring that you're able to lay down the hammer when you need to. Not to mention, the Vibram MegaGrip outsole consists of Idrogrip at the forefoot to promote unimpeded grip, while the 3.5mm lugs in the rear ensure grip in wet, dry, and loose terrain.

Too snug in the toes

I've used it several times
Runs small

The shoes did not fit me well as other shoes with the same size I purchased, it was too snug in the toes which makes me uncomfortable after wearing for a while. Anyway, the shoe quality is good, I would recommend one size larger than the normal size that you wear.

I received these shoes today and tested out immediately. Walked a couple miles and then ran a few with no issues. These are true to size. My foot medium width and no issue with length or width. All that said, these are not everyday casual shoes. They are well constructed, precise, serious trail running or hiking shoes. Lightweight and soles very tacky. Will not slip on wet roots or rocks. Arcteryx always one of the go to brands for serious endeavors. These shoes live up to that reputation.

Nicely constructed but wrong for my foot

Bought the VT-GTX in size 11 'cause my normal 10 1/2 felt too snug in the toes. Felt good out of the box. Wore around house, seemed OK. Laces scrunched the shoe up on the top of my forefoot but I was looking for performance, not style. Tried them out on a fairly rugged and wet 7 mile trail run. They felt great at the beginning, very grippy and cushioning. Unfortunately, the arch on them began to dig into my flat foot. The arch is formed into the shoe, not the insole, and it is very hard. They filled up with water which was expected once I got into some pretty deep puddles. By the end of the run I was carrying two water buckets on my feet and had a very sore right foot. It took 3 days for the shoes to completely dry out (keeps water out = keeps water in) after which I returned them. Shoes are very personal and I think these could be awesome for the right (correct) foot shape. I'll keep searching.

Had the same problem in the arch on my right foot, which is about a half size larger than left. Was hoping it would get better or break in a bit, but didn't seem to do so.

Light and Comfortable for the Trails

The Norvan Shoe is incredibly light. My initial thought was that a light and thin shoe would not have much durability but proved to be tremendously durable. I've used them for trail running, hiking and everyday casual wear. The inner lining sock fits amazingly well and does a good job wicking away moisture and the mesh keeps the air flow. The best aspect of the shoe is how well it forms to my foot with little to no shift within the shoe, particularly when going up and and down hills. The grip on the sole is also good on moderately wet rock surfaces. Overall, great shoe!
