When sideways snow comes at you on chairlift rides, you'll stay warm and comfortable in the Arc'teryx Macai Jacket. Its waterproof, down-insulation is perfect for staying comfortable on cold weather days in bounds while seeking out the freshest snow. It's the first down-filled ski jacket from Arc'teryx and its warmth is enhanced by its Down Contour Construction and Down Composite Mapping technologies. 750-fill European goose down lines the core and sleeves where warmth is most needed, while slim Coreloft insulation, which retains warmth when wet, is placed along the hem, collar, sleeves, and underarms, because these are the areas prone to more constant contact with moisture.
A three-layer Gore-Tex shell surrounds this smart insulation, featuring the proprietary, tightly-woven N40p-X face fabric that includes a DWR treatment to slough off snow and rainfall. This premium waterproof, windproof, breathable protection plays in tandem a WaterTight external zippers, fully taped low-bulk microseams, a high collar with the insulated DropHood, and adjustable cuffs and hem to seal out the elements.
Arc'teryx had functionality in mind when it built the Macai. Anatomical shaping, articulated elbows, and no-lift gusseted underarms gives you mobility as you ski, and the hip length provides ample coverage no matter the conditions. The adjustable, removable, insulated DropHood is helmet-compatible and is made to provide full visibility. A detachable powder skirt with gripper elastic and snap closure keeps fresh flakes from making their way up your back on deep days. As you complete run after run, you can dump excess heat out of the mesh-backed PowerGuard underarm vents while not allowing snow into the openings.

Potentially awesome jacket
I purchased this at the end of the season to take advantage of it on sale, so will not get a chance to check it out until next season. By far the most expensive jacket I ever purchased. The plan is to have it for the next 20 years. The construction, feel and fit is perfect. I'm 5'7", 145 lbs, and got a small. Sleeves are long as others mentioned however I think that is intentional as it's meant for active wear (stretching....etc). The inside is fairly tight with a heavy sweater on, but not restrictive. Tight is good for insulating purposes. Let's hope for a cold winter next season!

incredible piece of equipment
If you're looking for a jacket that has it all, this is it. It is lightweight, considering that it is a 750 fill goose down jacket with a goretex shell sitting on top of it. I dont like layering up too much, so that is why this jacket works for me. The insulated hood & high collar are essential for the bitter cold days that require you to trap in the heat from your head and protect your face. It breaths quite well and the pit zips are crucial for when it wams up. I'm very satisfied with the pockets and how well they serve the tasks they were designed to complete. The removable powder skirt is a plus, I'm not a fan of having extra material around when it conditions don't call for it. The only issue that you will have with the jacket is the sizing. It fits tighter than what Arcteryx claims is a

Living in Seattle it rains for 8 months out of the year, traditional down jackets won’t work. Having all my rain jackets being Arc Teryx I started looking for a gortex down jacket that I could wear on cold wet days. I researched this jacket for 3 weeks before purchasing and couldn’t find any negative reviews or complaints. The only thing people said other than how great it is was how warm it is. Amazing, quality construction as you would expect from Arc Teryx. It’s expensive but quality jackets like this are an investment . I love this coat and don’t regret my purchase. It runs a tad large. If you want a nice tight to the body fit order a size smaller. It fits like the SV line. I am 6’2” 220lbs with broad shoulders . I ordered an XL I like the extra room, but if I was just planning on a t shirt and not layering I’d order a large .

Gave as a gift
He said this is true to fit and very comfortable. He is thrilled about this jacket because the insulation is extra nice in colder temperatures. Most jackets don't come as a "one piece" with insulation anymore and involve layering puffy jackets underneath. He plans to use this for skiing out east and on trips to Utah and the Canadian Rockies.
