I read reviews about the slim sizing but thought I would give a try since I am a slim guy. These are ultra slim and very restrictive. They may work for casual short, but I plan to use for hiking and climbing. Also, no back pockets on these. I ordered a similar pair from OR (Equinox) that I am keeping for my needs.

Size +1

the materials and construction look awesome. But I agree with a previous comment about sizing up unless one is a twig. I wear 36 in Marmot, and Mountain Hardwear (really loose) Mountain Khakis (just right). Arcteryx 38 is just a little bit loose. Adjust the belt and one is good to go. ------ UPDATE: I bought these to boulder and hike during summer. The hiking is primarily in a famously steep/no shade trail near Denver. The bouldering has been outside. The fabric thermal properties are as good as billed. After having "backcountry" bibs rip on me while sitting to bind up on the first day of use, I am always skeptical about abrasion resistance. This fabric does not cause or engage in any friction with the rock while bouldering.

I’m 5’10 200lbs with a 34” waist. Ive got a small ass and pretty thick thighs and these sorts are honestly cut for a female. There is ZERO room for your ass in the back/junk in the front. While the material and colors are awesome, arcteryx ‘texhnical fit’ is made for...well I’m not really sure what physique these would be good for. Someone with no glutes and a non-existent package? I understand most climbers have a slender build but my god! Get some other shorts if you are at all muscular in the lower body.

These shorts and pants are the ultimate lightweight, durable, and versatile in my outdoor collection. I wear them just about everywhere. Perfect for travel as well as any outdoor activity. I wish it had a small zip back pocket, but understand that would affect some functionality.

Very durable and breathable. I have a "mountain" influenced athletic build and after reading the reviews went one size larger (wear a 30, bought a 32) . Adjusted the waist belt and they fit great!

I have a slim-athletic build and typically wear shorts with a 30" waist. The waist on these shorts fitted me well but the inseam however was FAR too short — uncomfortably so. I don't have enormous gluteals that would require extra fabric, they simply isn't any room. Apart from the fit of the crotch the shorts seem to be very well made and the material feels like it would stand up to some abuse.

Really liked the material and look of these shorts but they were way too small. I ordered a 34. I am usually a 34/35 and these things looked silly they were so tight.

Best shorts I've ever worn
These are 100% my favorite shorts. They fit me like a glove and are so awesome. I loved them so much I bought a pair as a gift for my dad. They're lightweight and breathe well and have a bit of stretch. I have an athletic build with big butt / thighs and they fit great, I think c the stretch gives you a bit of room. Recommend to anyone!!

These shorts are unreal. I love them so much that I gave a pair as a gift and I bought myself the Lefroy pants as well. I've worn them on a rafting trip in the Southwest (legs didn't burn) and on a number of hikes / backpacking trips and they haven't failed me yet. They're lightweight, dry very fast and do an excellent job keeping you cool. They also happen to be the most comfortable pair of shorts I've ever worn. I have an athletic build so finding a pair of slim fit shorts or pants that fit my waist and legs properly can be a struggle. The Lefroys fit like a glove and are super flattering. Plus they have a bit of stretch which I feel helps make them so comfortable. Bottom line: they're amazing. Highly recommend!

Quality control
- Familiarity:

The other reviews stating the size is right on lead me to believe there was a quality control issue with my pair. I purchased the 32" size. My waist size is actually 32", and I have 7 other pairs of shorts/pants from Arc'teryx in size 32, all of which fit fine. These shorts were extremely tight in the waist, but just manageable because of the awesome stretch. The deal breaker was the inseam, which was about 2" too short, causing severe camel toe and making sitting down in them impossible. I would try for the 34" size, but already had to pay $10 just to ship the first pair back. Only thing I can think is I got a lemon, which never used to happen with Arc'teryx before they were purchased by Amer and started outsourcing manufacturing. Not bashing, just saying watch out for inconsistency now that it's not centralized. Such a shame, because I loved everything else about the shorts. Will try Arc'teryx clothing on in the outlet store or local retailer now before buying.

The fit is pretty standard arcteryx sizing but with more stretch. They shed water surprisingly well, dry quickly, and the zippered pocket is especially useful. Integrated belt but no belt loops. Folds down incredibly small. FYI - BC lists these as weighing 7.7 oz in size Medium but mine weighed just 7.33 oz.

My go-to shorts for hiking has been the Arc'teryx Ramparts for a long time. I also use the Ramparts pants. The new Lefroy short uses a different fabric than the Ramparts. They both feel cool and light, however the Lefroy are quite stretchy. They are both comfortable shorts but the added stretch gives the Lefroy a bit of an edge. The integrated belt is also nice. Having a zippered pocket is also nice. The Ramparts do not have that. I do wonder what type of UPF rating these shorts offer. The Palisade and Ramparts have UPF 50.

Marius. I too am (was) a fan of the Ramparts. I am so disappointed in the current rendition. They went to one waist snap and took away the "iphone" pocket. The snaps are not to be trusted as they wear out almost immediately, so one is forced to wear a belt. I don't understand why they just don't use 2 strong snaps like the earlier model. Are these Lefroy pants and shorts an alternative?

How do these fit? I'm right between a 34 and 36 in most Arc'teryx pants...

Hey Charles - I would recommend you size up to the 36 since these are a slim fit. I am between a 32 and 34 and the 34 fit me best. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions. - Kyle L. - Expert Gearhead
