Incendo SL Jacket

The weather might seem mild when you leave your house in the morning, but there's no telling what it might be when you finally climb to higher elevation. Nasty winds and cooler temps are waiting for you, so stay prepared with the Arc'Teryx Incendo SL Jacket. Designed to offer wind protection during trail runs in moderate temperatures, while still delivering loads of breathability to keep you moving on the trail, this ultralight jacket is no hassle to bring along thanks to its packable design. It's able to stuff down small into its own internal pocket, and can easily fit into a hydration or lumbar pack for quick access when upper-mountain winds start to rear their ugly head.

On the front body and arms you've got wind-resistant Canim ripstop fabric to keep your core protected from constant gusts, while air-permeable panels on the back and underarms ensure that you won't get to stuffy as you pick up the pace. There's also a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that sheds light rain when passing showers roll by, and an articulated design that won't restr move with you comfortably as you explore new heights.

  • Ultralight jacket for long runs along windy ridge lines
  • Wind-resistant fabric protects the core and arms on exposed terrain
  • Highly breathable back and underarm panels promote cooling airflow
  • Articulated patterning allows for unrestricted movement as you run
  • DWR coating keeps you dry through light rain
  • Full front zipper lets you quickly vent when you're really moving
  • Jacket stuffs down into its own pocket for maximum packability
  • Special stitching helps eliminate sweat build up in the forearm

Great quality windbreaker

This is a solid running windbreaker for use during high output runs in cool temps, or easy runs in more mild (50 degree range) temps. I used mine for the first 20 or so miles of a 50 mile ultramarathon. The weather was on and off drizzle with some strong winds. This kept me warm without overheating, and the jacket took the rain well. It is certainly not waterproof, but there are details that make it play well with moisture, namely the looser fit and the raised folds of fabric inside the wrist to keep it from sticking to your arms. Speaking of the fit, lets get some things straight. When you first receive this jacket, you will probably be pretty surprised. Arc'teryx gear tends to run on the slim/athletic fit scale, and this will seem unusually large for them. This is done on purpose. The jacket has extra room across the back to allow for wear over a hydration vest. So it looks a little silly if you are using a handheld like I did, but the fit is pretty much spot on if you are wearing a 8-10L racing vest with supplies in it. All in all, this is a great ultralight windbreaker for runners thanks to the huge amount of venting material across the back. I would not recommend it for backpackers due to that fabric, however. The jacket also bundles into a small stash pocket on the inside of the jacket to compress down to about the size of a baseball. Useful for packing, but I would opt to just shove it into a vest pocket while racing to make it easier to get back and avoid wasting time fumbling with it since it is quite a tight fit. Finally, just know that this is not the most stylish jacket. Due to the high collar (I wish the SL had a little hood instead), nearly transparent fabric, and baggier fit, it looks a little awkward. Certainly not as sleek as a Salomon jacket. But it does its job extremely well.
