Fission SV Jacket
Whether you're on the deck of a cruise ship getting a full 360 degree view of Glacier Bay in Alaska or riding up the lift at Jackson Hole, you'll be warm and dry in the Arc'teryx Fission SV Jacket. The Fission is the warmest waterproof jacket in the Arc'teryx Essentials collection and was designed with a focus on versatility in severe conditions. This is achieved by a Gore-Tex two layer shell that is fully seam sealed with tiny Gore tape to reduce bulk and keep you dry. For warmth, a hydrophobic Coreloft Continuous synthetic insulation is paired with a Permeair liner to offer you lightweight, thermally efficient, breathable system.
For extended protection when you're photographing whales or the Mendenhall Glacier, the Fission sits at thigh length and has a drop back hem that offers full seat coverage. To give you unrestricted movement to get the shot or to shred down your favorite ski run, articulated elbows are paired with e3D patterning for functional mobility. This fit design is also ideal for easy layering when it is really cold out. To help fend off that cold, a DropHood design can be easily pulled on when the jacket is fully zipped and can fit over your ski helmet.
Just because this jacket provides exceptional warmth and weather protection, doesn’t mean that you'll look like a marshmallow when wearing it. In fact, Arc'teryx designed the Fission with a tailored, feminine aesthetic so you are looking your best when you leave the port to explore Juneau or when you go out for après drinks in Jackson.

If it fit I would have kept it
I already owned this jacket in the 2016 model, and in a previous year model several years older than the 2016 model. The pre-2016 model was getting old, and I wanted to replace it. It is a great jacket because it is gortex and lined not with down so wet conditions don't affect it. It is much warmer than the Arcteryx Tiya Jacket which I also own. It is probably the warmest gortex jacket on the market which is lined and not down. So I ordered the 2019 model. The only stated difference between the 2016 and the 2019 was a zippered pocket on the inside of the jacket which was previously just mesh. This would be an improvement as it is nice to have atleast one zippered pocket on the inside of the jacket. Unfortunately, arcteryx has changed the fit of the jacket from the 2016 model. The change is that the sleeves are longer (I could have lived with this) and the length of the jacket is particularly longer both in the front and the back (I couldn't live with this). The front is so long that it looked funny on me and would interfere with my mobility. I ordered the red color which looks better in person than on the website. It is a little darker and richer looking in person. Sadly, it is going back. This is the only arcteryx jacket I have ever tried on which is too long for me.

my new fav polar vortex jacket
I was on the fence getting this jacket versus canada goose parka the biggest thing with the canada goose was that...itt has the warmth but the weight that it entails so i finally bought this jacket and hoped it would be warm enough on this frigid temps. Earlier today i wore a fleece denali plus down 850 count mountain hardwear ghost whisperer and i was cold but not frigid cold thought that's normal bec its -9 and feels like -36F per forecast first time in decades in my area which im new anyway . I received later on the day my arcteryx sv fission and went out again and felt cold on my feet, legs, and hands but not my body without a midlayer!!! maybe bec it blocks the -36 windchill...whatever it is ...its so lightweight..nice fit and lighweight and most important super warm. i weight 130lbs and got a medium and still has lots of space. i couldnt be happier with this jacket and just on time for the polar vortex temp.
