Chill, but not chilled.
The temperatures may be numbing and the winds may high, but the snow will be deep and the crowds non-existent, but if you don't have the right kit to deal with the temps, you'll probably end up warming your cold and wet legs down at the bar—save the après drinks for when the lifts stop spinning and ski on with the Arc'teryx Men's Chilkoot Pants.
The Chilkoot is designed for the dedicated resort rider that needs serious waterproof protection and a good amount of insulation to take the edge off those cold and windy lift rides. Their two-layer Gore-Tex shell has fully taped seams and is made with Arc'teryx's N80p-X nylon face fabric for hardshell protection. Coreloft insulation is a synthetic fill made with crimped fibers that trap warm air to retain warmth and will maintain insulating properties if you happen to get wet. The cuffs are Cordura reinforced to protect against edges and boots, and the waist has an integrated belt to keep the pants riding comfortable as you ski. An outer thigh vent lets you lose a little heat if things do start to get too warm.

- Q & A
Decent pants but over priced
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
- Height: 5'9"
- Weight: 175lbs
These are decent, well made pants. You will find insulation with a soft material (non sticky) so it will be comfortable. On warmer day you will need no base layer.
It does not appear to be a much more durable material on the outside as I was expecting for the price. I was hoping for a tougher outside and more protection at the cuff for the price.
Fit is okay, but little tight on me. I am 5'9", 175, very athletic, waist 33 - 33.5, size medium. The waist is just barely okay for me. As long as you keep the base layer thin, the pants are good.
I returned because I was looking for more at the price range. I want the lower cuff to be more substantial and the outside to be very tough.
Great fit and great protection
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
The fit was perfect not too long and not too short. Was able to wear them without pant leg dragging on the ground with running shoes on. The adjustable waist straps made a tight and flexible but comfortable fit while skiing.
What does athletic fit mean with Arcteryx ski pants
Athletic fit refers to a slimmer, tapered fit in comparison to a straighter, boxier cut. It's not super tight, but not baggy either. As someone who prefers ski clothing without "steeze", Arcteryx is my favorite fit.
