Would you expect any less?
Arc'teryx always makes some of the best outdoor products, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that its Women's Bora Mid GTX Backpacking Boot is perfect for ultralight-yet-burly ascents. The Bora Mid has that same unique style and performance that we all expect from Arc'teryx. For starters, Arc'teryx constructed the Adaptive Fit liner separately from the upper in order to hug your foot with breathable, quick-drying mono-mesh for a truly customized fit.
Arc'teryx slipped Gore-Tex's Performance Comfort Stretch membrane inside the Adaptive Fit liner for extremely reliable waterproof, breathable protection. Unlike standard membranes that only provide partial coverage, Performance Comfort Stretch wraps entirely around the foot from top to bottom in order to maximize waterproof, breathable protection.
The Bora Mid also features a lightweight and surprisingly durable seamless upper designed to handle rock, snow, and ice with ease. This seamless upper features a non-woven, DWR-treated internal surface that sheds wet weather, PU-coated nylon for air permeability and abrasion-resistance, and TPU film for enhanced support and durability. The two top lace holes have integrated reinforcements to reduce stretching.
Underfoot, Arc'teryx equipped the Bora Mid with a premium injected EVA midsole designed for stability and enhanced braking. The 3D molded toe and heel caps buffer impact, offer rock protection, and resist cracking. There's also an anatomical arch shank, and the custom-developed 3D molded Ortholite footbed offers maximum comfort and breathability.
For the sole, Arc'teryx worked in collaboration with Vibram to give you the best traction on a variety of trails. This sole includes a climbing zone with traction grooves, grippy inserts for smearing, RockGrip technology with anti-slip lugs, a mountaineering-inspired heel tread for stability, and a spherical heel shape for a smooth stride.

Doesn't Work for High Arches
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
This boot obviously works great for some feet. I had an insanely difficult time getting the boots on and then off. Exhausting! The inner boot is a pull on, so for those of us with high arches, the foot will not slip easily into the inner boot. Although I was able to do it, it took a lot of effort and bunched up my socks, so had to dig in there to straighten them out. Once on, they are very comfortable and supportive. Would have loved to try them out on the trail. One other problem is that the back seam of the inner boot runs up the back of the heel and achilles tendon. That was irritating just walking around inside the house. That would rub me raw after a few miles. So, if you don't have high arches and aren't sensitive to seam rubbing these might be great boots for you. Thank you Keary at Backcountry for great customer service in helping me figure out what was going on.
Light, agile, rugged, seriously!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
These boots are super waterproof, used them in warm and winter conditions. They are light and agile feeling, but extremely rugged. I feel like my feet are monster trucks... gripping rock, stomping through shale, hopping boulders, or just burning up dirt trails in town. Barely had to break them in, any stiffness dissipates after just a couple of miles and they are good to go the distance.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 41 might have gotten away with a 40.5 which would be my regular size.
- Height: 5'4"
- Weight: 105lbs
These boots were comfortable right out of the box. I took a trip to Vermont and did a lot of hiking. I didn't have time to break in these boots and was a little nervous about that but I found that they were great from day one. They fit well. I got a half size larger than normal because I read they run small but I don't think they really run that small and in hind sight wish I would have gotten 2 sizes to compare. These turned out fine as I always change out the insoles to accommodate my picky feet. I have bunions and a Morton's neuroma and had zero problems from either. I really liked how responsive the lacing was for the fit. Looser lacing meant for very comfortable wear when not on the trail and snugged up just made the boot hug your foot. No heel slip whatsoever. Downhill or uphill, no slipping around in the boots. The are very light weight and provide excellent support. The stride is very natural and sole grippy on wet rocks. They were waterproof in wet rainy conditions and, unlike my last gortex boots, my socks were completely dry at the end of the hikes every time! I'm very happy with my purchase and without hesitation would recommend these for any trails of any length.
I love wearing comfortable fit.

How it was built
If you have a wider foot would these boots be ok?
I have a fairly wide foot and they seemed to fit good for me. It really comes down to trying them on unfortunately.

Could these fit an insole, such as orthotics for flat feet?
BCHiker - yes, these are designed to fit aftermarket insoles. The included Ortholite insole is removable so you can use an insole that best suits your needs.
