Arc'teryx aesthetic and performance for feet.

Arc'teryx would like to introduce you to the new generation of hiking footwear with the Women's Bora² Mid Backpacking Boot's burly, yet ultralight performance. The Bora² Mid has that same unique style and performance that we all expect from Arc'teryx. For starters, Arc'teryx constructed the removable Adaptive Fit liner separately from the upper in order to hug your foot with breathable, quick-drying mono-mesh for a truly customized fit.

Arc'teryx slipped a Gore-Tex Performance Comfort Stretch membrane inside the Adaptive Fit liner for extremely reliable waterproof, breathable protection. Unlike standard membranes that only provide partial coverage, Performance Comfort Stretch wraps entirely around the foot from top to bottom in order to maximize waterproof, breathable protection. Best of all, you can remove the Adaptive Fit liner and wear it on its own around the campsite for extra comfort. The liner has a rubberized bottom for traction and long-lasting durability, and you can always replace it with an Arc'teryx Gore-Tex Mid Liner or Gore-Tex Insulated Mid Liner.

The Bora² Mid also features a lightweight and surprisingly durable seamless upper designed to handle rock, snow, and ice with ease. This seamless upper features a non-woven, DWR-treated internal surface that sheds wet weather, PU-coated nylon for air permeability and abrasion-resistance, and TPU film for enhanced support and durability. The two top lace holes have integrated reinforcements to reduce stretching.

Underfoot, Arc'teryx equipped the Bora² Mid with a premium injected EVA midsole designed for stability and enhanced braking. The 3D molded toe and heel caps buffer impact, offer rock protection, and resist cracking for durability. There's also an anatomical arch shank, and the custom-developed 3D molded Ortholite footbed offers maximum comfort and breathability.

For the sole, Arc'teryx worked in collaboration with Vibram to give you the best traction on any trail. This sole includes a climbing zone with traction grooves, grippy inserts for smearing, RockGrip technology with anti-slip lugs, a mountaineering-inspired heel tread for stability, and a spherical heel shape for a smooth stride.

Blisters be gone, but bony ankles beware

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Women's US 10 runs 1/2 size large. Use international sizing label (UK/EU, etc) for the real size. Size issues aside, for bunions and blisters, these shoes are great! I've never had such a comfy out of the box pair. Stability also great, not a single ankle tweak while out on a bushwack over rocks hidden under leaves and a slippery thin layer of snow. But something about the stiff, yet thin, flexible outer shell made the lace hooks and laces dig hard into my upper foot across the ankle, especially smack on the navicular bone (I have a normal navicular). It was so bad, I had bruises after just a few miles. Even while tied loosely. The only painless wait to wear the shoe was to avoid several hooks and tie so loosely they would be a hazard on rough terrain. Not sure if they would eventually break in, but they're too expensive to gamble on that.

Iceland Comfort Right Out of the Box

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 9.5
  • Height: 6'1"
  • Weight: 133lbs

These boots were broken in and ready for trekking right out of the box. Wore them for over 2 weeks thru rain, snow, river crossings, beach sand, and rocky trails... and was impressed by their versatility and comfort in extreme conditions. Very easy to clean with the removable boot liners... just throw them in the wash, air dry, and you have fresh boots for next time! I typically wear a women's size 10 (men's 8.5), and purchased a women's 9.5 in this boot, which was the perfect fit with hiking socks. I would say the boots run about a half a size big, so order slightly smaller. Truly badass boots, and they look great with tac pants, skinny jeans, leggings, and shorts!

Runs way too big

  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 8

Beautiful boot, but runs way too big. On the label, Arctery'x says a size 8 is the equivalent of a 6.5UK or 40EUR. Normally a european 39-39.5 or a UK 5.5 is the same as a size 8. Also wish that gear manufacturers would realize that women want normal colors. The blue was too bright for my taste.

Best hiking boots ever!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 8

I tried many hiking boots before deciding to purchase these. It was an excellent decision, as they are awesome and so much lighter than most hiking boots in the same category! It took very little time to break them in. Then they are extremely comfortable. The liner fits well around the foot. The rubber band at the top is maybe a bit tight, but at least all the dirt stays out. More importantly, the liner does not slide too much when you walk. I have hiked through sand, water, boulders, snow and never got an issue. Their traction is incredible. A great feature is that the ankles are supported, but the boots are not too rigid, which means there is still some freedom of movement at that level. I cannot say enough good things about those! Go for it.
