Beta SL Pant

When sudden cloud bursts send everyone running for cover, pull the Arc'teryx Men's Beta SL Pant out of your pack and keep your legs dry while you push on towards the hut. Gore-Tex Paclite will shield you from the rain and, since it's the lightest fabric Gore-Tex makes, it helps keep these pants packable so you won't have to even consider leaving them behind just to save a little space. They have reinforced 3-layer Gore-Tex cuffs, too, so you won't slice your legs up powering through prickers; instead, you'll be eating up trail while all your weight-conscious companions hide under trees or spend the night roasting their hiking pants over the fire trying to dry them out.

  • Light, packable pant provides wet weather protection while trekking
  • Gore-Tex Paclite fabric is super-light, breathable, and waterproof
  • Full-length side zips provide easy on-and-off and ventilation
  • External waist adjustment ensures a secure fit
  • Item #ARC00X7

No brainer safety gear

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size
Size Bought
M/Reg
Weight
180 lbs

These are uber-light but bombproof protection. There are a few lighter options out there, but none with the same reliability and features (adjustable waist, zipper fly, full zips, cuff drawcord). These are simply the best version of this available. If you're in the backcountry reasonably far from home (say, on a mountain), these are an absolute no-brainer. They should be mandatory equipment on every gear list. Warning - they are NOT sized to layer over everything. 5'10", 180 lbs., 32" waist and a M/Reg would fit me perfectly if they were my only layer. But if you need to wear them over your other layers (long johns and softshell pants), size up for sure.

All Purpose Waterproofing

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size
Size Bought
M/Tall
Height
6` 2"
Weight
175 lbs

These pants are ideal for a do it all mountain enthusiast. They are incredibly lightweight and packable and will fit into any backpack. The full side zip ensures that they are easy to get on and off around your boots as well as provides ventilation during those high output days in the mountains. Paclite from GORETex ensure a waterproof package with extra breathability. If you are backpacking, hiking or summer time mountaineering and want an added level of weather protection take a second look at the Beta SL's. I'm 6'2 175 lbs and the M/Tall works great for me.

Way too large and baggy

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Fit:
Runs large
Size Bought
Small
Height
5` 4"
Weight
125 lbs

They seem like nicely constructed pants , but man they run HUGE. Baggy and HUGE even with a normal pair pf pants underneath, somehow waist feels normal but the rest is an ungainly sight and fit. Should have read reviews more carefully. Returning for a refund. I recommend sizing down at least 2 sizes.

Breathable rain pant!

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Fit:
True to size

Great middle pricepoint rain pant for waterproof needs but also breathability! The paclite fabric makes this an ideal pant to stay dry and not sweaty. Boot cuffs and 1/4 zips at the bottom of the pant accommoate different footwear as well. Great purchase!

Fear No Rain

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
Runs large

Small Short
Height
5` 3"
Weight
140 lbs

These pants were a little too short for me but with the cinch on the bottom, they were just fine. They are noisy when you hike with them but the sound of the raindrops bouncing off it drowns out out. These pants make me want to hike in wet conditions more!

Great Emergency rain pant

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size
Size Bought
Medium/Tall
Height
6` 3"
Weight
170 lbs

Purchased these for a 300 mile section hike of the Maine Appalachian Trail, as an emergency rain pant. They are very well balanced between weight and durability, they aren't OR Heliums but they will definitely last much longer. Packs down smaller than a standard water bottle, but they are durable enough for rock scrambling or the inevitable encounter with a thornbush/branch. They have excellent mobility, enough that i can do squats and the ankles don't ride up at all or restrict movement. The fit is perfect, plenty enough room for mild weather layers underneath but not baggy like ski pants. I am 6'3" and 170lbs, and wear a 32x34 regularly, and these fit perfectly, more like a 32x35. My only negative remark is the lack of a full length side zipper. As an emergency rain pant i know this saves weight, but it also makes it impossible to put on with boots, and many times when the weather turned bad i had to take off my boots to put on these pants. Not the best design for cold weather, but i bought a pair of OR Mentors for that, so these will stay with my 3 season gear.

My husband got these pants for adventure racing. Excellent fit - not too baggy, very durable even hiking off trail. Waterproofing has been great so far after several uses.

Hey there, These pants do not have any pockets!
