Polartec Power Stretch side panels ensure a full range of motion during chilly fall climbs, while DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating keeps the rain off during drizzly hikes.

    • Get multi-season warmth with this versatile and active midlayer
    • Coreloft insulation offers breathable warmth for skin track trips
    • Stretchy side panels help you move as you scale morning walls
    • DWR coating sheds off light precipitation for fickle fall weather

Great jacket, sad zippers are jittery

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'
    • Weight: 178lbs

I originally purchased an Atom LT in 2007 or 2008. This jacket performed phenomenally. It's been through the wringer. Dense thicket, nothing. Campfires, nothing. Rolled around on the ground and banged up against rocks, nothing. Smashed into a tiny ball countless times, nothing. Washed multitudes of times, nothing. A true champ of a jacket. The best I've ever had the honor of owning.

The two I've most recently purchased as replacements, have had zipper issues. In 2018 and today Aug 27, 2019. The zipper for both jackets was jittery in the chest area. My original was butter smooth up and down, I enjoy zipping it up and down over and over. Returned the 2018 jacket and now the 2019 jacket. Major sad face.

My confidence in Arcteryx Atom series is waning. I also purchased an Atom AR 2-3 years ago. Six months in, a tiny campfire ember burnt a hole into it. Never happened with my original 2007/2008 Atom LT despite being around numerous campfires over 10+ years. Three stars out of five. Great design, not up to the standards I'd would expect of Arcteryx. I'm going to hug my original 10+ year old Atom LT now, and remind it how amazing it is and beg it to never leave me.

    Hi Dave,
I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with the new zippers on the Atom LT! Arc'teryx is using new zippers that are easier to use with just one hand and have certain stop points to prevent slippage. You may have noticed the previous zippers had some trouble staying zipped up so this was a design upgrade to help with that. Thank you for being a loyal Backcountry and Arc'teryx customer! I'm an Arc'teryx Ambassador here and would love to send you a gift from Arc'teryx as a thank you for your love of the brand. If you will, please send me your email address to amcclary@backcountry.com.

    Light and Warm...and Arc'Teryx

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 165lbs

This is a replacement for the first jacket Backcountry sent out a few weeks ago. That jacket went to Canyonlands NP for mild nights for the first three, and driving snow and cold nights the last 3. The Atom LT is light, warm and very comfortable, with the side panels contributing to comfort rather than losing the heat. In fact, I didn't notice any heat loss in the fabric panels at all.

I noticed almost immediately a balky main zipper. The second day of use the zipper caught in a stray thread from the zipper and I had to trim out the thread to be able to open or close the zipper. It did function fine thereafter, but was still balky in the upper third (mid-chest to the top), and the replacement I received today the zipper is about the same. Lacking a loose thread I'll keep this jacket and accept the zipper.

Hand pockets are warm, the neck is a little loose though better a little too much space than snug, and the inside pocket handy for glasses.

All in all, disappointed with the zipper issue, very happy with Backcountry's response and immediate replacement, impressed with the warmth--I often used it as a sweater layer under a heavier down jacket, and it excelled at this--for something so light and compactable.

    Warm

Overall very happy with this jacket. Have the hooded version and got this for insulation under my Arcteryx ski shell. Only complaint is that it does seem quite as warm as the hooded version. That said I’m still very happy with it.

      Super versatile jacket!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 6'2"
      • Weight: 180lbs

This jacket is great for everything! Enough insulation to wear by itself and stay warm. It is water resistant to keep you dry in a light rain. The fit is slim enough to layer up if it gets really cold! Packs down super small for storage...... and it looks great!

      Dad Loves it

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Size Bought: M
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 165lbs

Puffy jackets are great but sometimes it’s a bit warm for the puff. The Adam is The perfect choice for cold days and cool nights. The cut gives the wearer a nice v shape regardless of the true shape inside.

      Perfect Layering Jacket

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 170lbs

This jacket is a must have in any outdoor enthusiasts closet. I find myself wearing this piece more often than anything else I own. It is warm enough to take the chill off but highly breathable with the added side panels to dump heat. I wear this jacket underneath my shell when skiing, when hiking in the shoulder seasons and even around the town on a chilly night. Expensive but worth every penny with how versatile it is.

      Awesome lightweight jacket!!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 155lbs

This is a great jacket that I plan to use as a mid-layer for skiing under my shell. So far I've only worn it in 30 deg F temps with a slight wind and this kept me really comfortable, even a bit toasty in the sun. I highly recommend as a winter jacket, and look forward to testing it out on the slopes.

      Comfy jacket moves with you

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 200lbs

Atom LT is a light insulated jacket which moves with you. It is light and warm enough. It is just perfect for about anything from dog walking to layering during backpacking trip. I am obsessed with the women version and purchase one for my husband for matching. This is the jacket you will always reaching because it is comfortable beyond your imagination and still good looking . Must have!

      The best jacket out there.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 180lbs

This jacket is so warm and comfy. Its like walking around in a sleeping bag! The high side pockets are great for wearing a harness, and the stretchy sides allow tons of movement. I have one with the hood, and one without for different activities. The only complaint i have about the jacket is that the front zipper doesnt stay put unless its zipped up all the way. Overall, this is just about the best jacket out there.

      Best hybrid layer out there!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: large
      • Height: 6'2"
      • Weight: 205lbs

This jacket is the best you can get with a hybrid option. It has Coreloft insulation in the torso, arms and hood. Then the side panels and underarms are Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface Technology, which leads to it being extremely breatheable and mobile. I have used this jacket for camping, climbing, skiing, and nights on the town. It is durable, good looking, and the most versatile jacket on the market. The pockets feature a soft suede like material on the front to keep your hands nice and warm as well. The fit is as expected, and true to size with a slim cut. You need one of these I promise!

      Love it

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 175lbs

This jacket is immediately comfortable and super light. So much so I was concerned about how it would do in cooler temperatures. As it turned out, it did at least as well as expected if not better. I have worn it in temps as low as 30 degrees with two thin shirts (not technical base layers) underneath with no problem. With a single shirt it handles the 40s just fine and can be worn comfortably in the 50s with an open zipper.

The one caveat is wind. The breathability panels on the side will allow some wind in if it is blowing strong enough. I’d guess this would need to be above 10 mph and more likely above 15 mph before it would become noticeable. So, with a strong wind the lowest temperature the jacket could withstand would be a little higher. Needless to say, if you are wearing this as a layer under a shell this would not be a consideration.

      Boyfriend Approved

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 115lbs

Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He loves that it doesn't have a hood so on those cold tours he can wear it under his shell and not worry about the good bunching up. He also wears it around town when it's not snowy or raining. He is 5'10", 140lbs, Athletic build and the medium fits him really well.

      Good Fit, But Way Overpriced

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 175lbs

I purchased this product based on overwhelming favorable reviews as a mid-layer. Granted it looks decent, but it’s nothing special, feels cheap and is over-priced The hooded verson’s neck opening is too large to function as an effective mid-layer, and the hood bunched in my shell. So, I bought the jacket version, which fits well, but lacks the hem tightener found on the hooded. Additionally, why an internal chest pocket on a mid-layer jacket?

Most Arc’teryx jackets fit poorly, but this fits an athletic body very well. It’s a true large with room to lift your arms and a normal sleeve length. If it was priced in the hundreds, I would say “yes”; however, unless you’re buying for the pterodactyl logo, save your money.

I really wanted it but ..

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 165lbs

The cut did not fit me.

I'm tall and thin with a normal muscular build. I tried the Medium which fit well over the chest, but the sleeves were too short and every move would bring them up on my arms

So I tried the Large, and it could fit two like me in it.

It's too bad, cause it's really really nice otherwise.

      Excellent layer for snowboarding

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 170lbs

Comfy, warm, and side ventilation, make this perfect for snowboarding or skiing.

My boyfriend hardly takes it off!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 135lbs

Got this as a gift for my boyfriend and he wears it everywhere. What he loves most is how soft and light it is given how much protection it gives him. It's super warm for its weight and it resists the wind fine during breezy days. Great for layering under a shell when skiing when the conditions are on the cold side.
