    Versatility at its finest.

One of the most versatile jackets you'll ever add to your gear arsenal is the Arc'teryx Women's Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket. Wear it by itself from spring to fall on chilly adventures backpacking, climbing, or hiking, and then slide a waterproof shell over it for ski sessions in winter. When worn by itself, the Tyono shell balances wind protection with air permeable comfort so you don't overheat, and the DWR coating sheds light rainfall to help keep you dry. To keep you mobile for athletic movement, Polartec Power Stretch side panels provide a four-way stretch, plus they wick moisture, dry quickly, are durable, and breathe so you can tackle difficult summits without pulling layers off and on the whole time.

Arc'teryx also added Coreloft insulation that uses air permeable panels to ensure excellent thermal regulation. Coreloft will also still keep you warm even if it gets wet. A trim fit helps you layer over the Atom LT with ease if you need extra wind or rain protection. On days that require a little extra protection, but not a whole extra layer, throw on the adjustable, helmet-compatible StormHood to seal out the cold.

    • Versatile jacket for any and all season usage in the outdoors
    • DWR treatment beads and repels moisture for dry comfort
    • Tyono fabric balances wind protection and air permeability
    • Coreloft insulation is lofty, provides warmth even when wet
    • Polartec Power Stretch side panels allow athletic movement
    • Hardface Technology increases level of abrasion resistance
    • Adjustable StormHood is helmet compatible for wherever protection
    • Arc'teryx focuses its designs on a simple, less is more philosophy

    Great jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I got this jacket for my wife because she's envied mine. She loves it. It's just the right weight for fall, and fits her well. She does wish the torso was a little longer, but she likes the sleeve length and the cinch at the bottom.

    Worth the Hype? You Betcha

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

For the longest time, I had Arc'teryx gear pegged as unnecessarily overpriced. After finally caving to temptation (after reading countless stellar reviews), and purchasing the Atom LT hooded jacket two years ago, I can honestly say I was wrong. The Atom instantly surpassed Patagonia's Nano Puff as my favorite synthetic puffy/mid-layer. I have used it for back country and resort skiing (layered and standalone), backpacking, climbing, and around town. It is perfect for every season. It's light, breathable, comfortable, very packable, and provides just the right amount of warmth. The fit is fairly slim-fitting (more so than the Patagonia Nano Puff), which is very flattering, but doesn't allow for much layering underneath (I recommend sizing up if you like a little bit of room). The colors are also great (I love Black Sapphire II). Up until this year, the jacket had shown little to no wear. I recently made the mistake of wearing it in the field for work and tore it on a barbed-wire fence. I replaced the jacket immediately and bought the vest along with it (the old one has been patched and repurposed as a field jacket). I will not make that mistake again! Officially hooked and currently eyeing the Ravenna pants.

    Amazing Jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small

Very light-weight and warm. While we've used this for a variety of activities, this jacket works perfect if you just need to throw something on to casually push back against everyday weather. We originally got a size L, but it was a bit small, so you may want to size up on this. One of our favorites.

    My Favorite Piece of Gear!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Atom LT is my go-to puffy and ultimate layering piece for everything outdoors. I wear it under a shell skiing and as a stand-alone jacket on chilly days. It keeps me warm enough in cold temperatures, but breathes well enough that I don't steam up. It has stretchy side panels made of Polartec Power Stretch that are flattering and vent heat, while still keeping you warm. The pockets are even fleece lined to keep your hands extra warm. The hooded version is substantially warmer than the non-hooded version.

While the performance of this jacket is amazing, the comfort of this jacket is even more impressive to me. I would literally wear this jacket every day if I could. It is so soft and feels like butter when you're wearing it.

Another consideration when purchasing a puffy jacket is durability. I've had mine for eight years now and it still looks as good as the day I bought it.

The fit is slightly trim fit, but tapered. If you like a slim look, go for your regular jacket size, if you want extra room for layering, size up.

I'm often asked as a Gearhead what my favorite piece of gear is. Hands down without hesitation, the answer is always the Atom LT. If you ever come into Backcountry's office during spring, summer, or fall, there is a seriously good chance you'll see me wearing one of my Atom LTs and a ton of other employees, as well. Basically, I can't think of a good reason not to have one.

If you want the warmest version of the Atom LT, get the hooded version, if you want an even lighter version, consider the vest.

If you have any questions at all about this jacket or even want to chat about how much you love yours, please call me at 801-204-4562 or email me at amcclary@backcountry.com

Lost count of how many colors I have!

This jacket is awesome! Light weight but very warm. The jacket stretches and moves with you. Love the fit around the wrist. No crazy Velcro and fits like a glove. I find Arc’teryx jackets to run a size small and always order up for light layering. Last count I have this jacket in six saturated amazing colors and I am on the hunt for number seven when next season’s color palette is released. Don’t hesitate a second.....well worth the price. Also launders great and looks like new after each wash. Order one already!!!!

    Amazing jacket!

Although it is already well known that this is an amazing jacket (100 reviews), I'm sharing my wife's feedback. Also recommend checking out the product info on the Arc'teryx site. This is my wife's favorite jacket, and she wears it everywhere. It is comfortable and warm, especially for how lightweight it is. It is great for wearing around the house, or out on a chilly day, and she plans to use it as a layer for skiing. It's a great purchase, especially if you can get it on sale.
I've also bought one for myself and love it!

    Great All Year Round

I picked this up for my girlfriend after having mine for a few years. Love it. I wrote a review on the men's version but figured it was fitting for this page as well.
"This is the most versatile jacket you will ever find. I have had mine for about 3 years and have used it year round from the frozen tundra of Minnesota to the Mountains of Utah and all over the desert in the southwest. Works great on its own or as a midlayer. Water resistant and sheds light precip. Dries super fast if you end up getting wetter than anticipated. Breathes well during high aerobic activity so you stay dry and don't sweat. Insulates when you're being less active. In cooler temps, I pair it with a vest and am good to go. It also compresses down nice and small for easy packing. True to Arc'teryx sizing. It fits slim, I could have gone with a small but I prefer a little looser fit so I chose medium."
My gf is about 5'5" and 120lbs, I picked up the small for her and found a perfect fit.

    My favorite backcountry jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 215lbs

Originally purchased to wear spring (in interior Alaska that means anywhere from 0F - 40F) cross-country skiiing and snowshoeing. It's great in those temps for me! It feels like you're wearing a sleeping bag, it's so comfortable. It's incredibly lightweight and packable; I'll definitely be taking it on all my summer hiking trips. It's so comfortable to wear I found I was choosing it over my daily commuter spring jacket, so when Backcountry had them on sale, I figured I should snag another and dedicate one to outdoor activities. I originally got it in black, which is a sleek matte that looks really sharp (I even wear it to meetings.) The one I got from Backcountry (Aspen Glow) isn't as, uh... aesthetic haha. Online it looks like a sunny yellow, but it's truly more orange--picture a farm fresh egg yolk or your childhood favorite blue box mac and cheese. I don't care enough to send it back (it was on clearance after all) but I definitely wouldn't have chosen this color if I were physically holding it in the store, it's pretty putrid. All that said, this jacket is my favorite for three-season adventuring and you just cannot beat how lightweight and breathable this is, while still packing a punch in the insulation department.

    My favorite backcountry jacket

    super lightweight

    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 130lbs

This is very comfortable and lightweight, easily packable, and water resistant - I wore it in drizzle yesterday and it all just balled up and rolled off. I am not sure it'll really keep me warm in 40 degree weather, but I get cold very easily. It'll be perfect for my trip to the Canadian Rockies this summer.

    3 Times a Charm

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 146lbs

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it again--this jacket rocks. Champ at versatility, use as stand alone or an insulator. LIGHTWEIGHT, PACKABLE, BREATHABLE (dump that heat with the super supple and protective side panels that extend up through the pits).
Arc'teryx went all out (as usual) when choosing fabrics that do what the jacket is designed for--outer nylon isn't your everyday ripstop (we've heard that word a billion times)--the Tinthan nylon is super strong, durable, light, very wind resistance (tried it out on a cold night, windows open, 70mph down the freeway, just because I could-- and it works. The cool air hit the jacket and went AROUND it).
I use it for hiking, casual, cool morns on the beach, insulating jacket on the slopes or my go-to at the soccer game. It's your deliberate choice for your adventures or the just-in-case take along. Casual dinner and movie--great for that too. Color choices are always something to look forward to. This purchase is my 3rd for this jacket (had to, since my first jacket is now someone else's favorite jacket--this gets me back up to 2 now). The fit is pretty true to size. I have athletic shoulders and plenty of room for movement there (has a little stretch in the fabric too); tapers down a bit in the waist for performance (not boxy or sloppy in the least because of that).

    2 thumbs up!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

The Atom LT is the ideal ski touring mid-layer for underneath a Fore-Tex shell. I've worn this on almost all my mildly cold to cold days in the backcountry, and absolutely love it! The light synthetic material also packs down very well into your touring backpack and takes up minimal space. I would highly recommend this layer to anyone!

    Take it for a tour

Bought this jacket for my wife so that she could use it for snowboarding or touring. So far it's been the best buy of the season! It's true to size, light-weight, breathable, and is water-resistant. We wore it in single digit weather and after breaking a sweat, when she was cooling down, she didn't freeze. It's great for layering as well.

    FAVORITE!!!

    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 146lbs

Lightweight, compactible, warm, main body core has great wind resistance, side and pit panels of supple, lightweight polartec dump heat and provide extra breathability when needed. I prefer the hooded for the frigid days where having an attached hooded provides a quick fix for extra warmth; hooded fits close for performance; loved for it's versatility too -- hike, ski (as an insulating layer), casual. For me (women's version) fits more like an athletic fit (NOT a boxy or baggy fit). Wondering if the day or evening activity will come with some chill in the air? This will be the lightweight jacket you reach for time and again. LOVE IT and colors are awesome too. I have two. Won't be long before I pick up a 3rd.

    My Go-To

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'4"

This layer makes it into my pack for every adventure. I went with a Small, and it's pretty fitted, but perfect for my needs. Keeps me warm without overheating. I've had mine for over a year now, and haven't had any issues with tears or fraying.

    Great fit and very warm!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I got this for my girlfriend, she loves how it fits. Fitted but not too snug. Can be a layer or an outer jacket and very warm!

    Best midweight layer EVERRRR

I used this tramping all over Banff in 0 degree temps, and it proved the best midweight base layer. Slim fit, warm and wind-blocking on its own, perfect fit under a shell. I will use this in three seasons, either on its own or as a mod-layer for cold or wet days. Fits true to size; I’m 5’10”, around 135, and wear a Medium.

      Great Jacket

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: small
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 125lbs

Got this as a gift for someone and they loved it. Fits pretty true to size and works great with people with longer arms.

      It's ok

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: S
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 110lbs

I ordered this jacket because of the stellar reviews and I think its ok. It is really light weight, which will be good for when I am active in cool weather, but on its own it is not very warm. At this price point there are better lightweight jackets. It is a really good-looking design, but not quite as warm as I was hoping for. I got a small based on the reviews ( I am between S and XS) and there us plenty of room underneath for layering. Not slim, but not baggy. It is true to size in my opinion.

      Best Everything Jacket

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 120lbs

I have had this jacket for about a month now, and it is one of the best purchases I've ever made. It has become my every day jacket and has been great for everything from slightly chilly fall mornings to walking the dogs in the latest snowstorm. It is super light weight and will be a huge space saver when it needs to be packed.

      Love this jacket!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

I've been on the search for a light puffy for cooler weather and one that I could potentially use for layering. I originally ordered the Patagonia Nano Puff in a S and found that it was waaaay to big on me (specifically the length) while the XS was too tight (I'm 5', 120 lbs with an athletic build). After scouring the internet for the best jackets for petite folks, this jacket was highly recommended. I was hesitant because of the price, but I am so glad I ended up buying it! It fits so well -- I definitely value utility over looks, but hey, it's nice to feel good in a jacket you paid $$ for!

I've only used it a couple times in weather that was in the 40s and was pretty good with a hoodie and even better with a fleece underneath instead. I really appreciate the adjustable hood (other helmet compatible hoods kind of just flop over my head when I'm not wearing a helmet, but I still want a little more warmth) and the snug but stretchy cuffs that hold the sleeves in place. So far I'm very happy with this purchase!
