    Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket

Who needs a multi-tool when you've got the ultra-versatile Arc'teryx Men's Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket working just the same? Metaphors aside, you might want to actually bring along a multi-tool (just in case), but for breathable insulation on any and all alpine adventures, you've got the jacket equivalent with this high-performing insulator.

Ski touring, winter hiking, frigid ice climbing routes—the Atom LT can handle it all with a durable and lightweight Tyono fabric exterior, while the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment fends off light rain and snowfall to keep you dry when overcast weather decides to throw a little moisture your way. To bolster its adaptability, the Atom LT is equipped with gusseted underarms and Polartec Power Stretch side panels to ensure an unimpeded range of motion whether you're wearing it as a midlayer or an external shell. Perhaps most importantly, though, is the Atom LT's synthetic Coreloft insulation. This breathable synthetic insulation not only retains warmth in wet weather, but also offers maximum thermal efficiency without compromising the compressibility of the fibers. A StormHood offers added coverage when your beanie isn't enough, and the adjustable hem provides a personalized, snug fit to keep the cold out.

    • An ultra-versatile insulator for all of your cold-weather pursuits
    • Coreloft insulation provides breathable warmth for morning touring
    • Durable shell has DWR treatment to shed alpine precipitation mixes
    • Stretchy side panels help you move on chilly weather climbs
    • Fixed hood slides easily over your beanie on windy summits
    • Adjustable hem seals in the warmth and shuts out the cold
    • Hand pockets give you quick access to energy bars
    • Item #ARC00UV

    Essential

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Bought this for my husband, the fit was just as expected. This jacket works great as a mid layer for adventures or as an outer jacket when layered with a sweater. Great piece to add to the collection!

    Incredibly Versatile Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 170lbs

This jacket is the best that I've ever owned. It is lightweight, sleek-looking, provides plenty of warmth, it is not a crunchy material. I don't feel like I overheat in this jacket but it handles 20-30 degree weather like nothing. I want to wear it every day. It's not restricting or uncomfortable in any way. Great stuff from Arc'teryx.

    recommend

The fabric of the jacket is nice, perfect for cooler climates. My dad used for hiking and it really kept him warm, and it's really waterproof. Also he says is really breathable, meaning allows you to be fresh when sweating. Good product, I really recommend.

      AMAZING

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

This is my new favorite jacket EVER. It feels so light that I almost forget I'm wearing a jacket, yet it's actually warmer than my heavy Carhartt coat. It's also awesome that, considering how warm it is, I don't start burning up when I'm indoors. The other thing I love about it is the fit. I have a full range of motion without any discomfort or restriction.

      I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS JACKET!!!

      Doesn't Get Any Better

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 180lbs

This jacket at the peak of performance and style. It plays an essential role in layering for any occasion. Wear it on the mountain, on the wall, or walking around town. There is nothing this jacket can't do. The DWR coating does a great job of repelling a light rain or snow and keeping you dry.

      Amazing!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 180lbs

I've seen so many people rocking the Atom LT, so I had to see for myself what the hype is all about. Well...it put all of my other insulated jackets to shame. A lot of insulated hoodys/jackets feel somewhat restricting at times, but not this one! I use it as a mid-layer at the resort under my shell. I run pretty hot when I'm touring, so I probably wouldn't use it in the backcountry, but for a resort mid-layer or just wearing around town casually, it is perfect for me!

The Swiss Army Knife of Jackets

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 140lbs

The versatility of this jacket cannot be overstated. It is warmer than it's weight would imply, resists elements better than you'd expect and more comfortable than its performance would imply. If I am wearing a t-shirt, thin baselayer and the Atom LT, I am pretty comfortable down to the low 30's Fahrenheit. Not bad at all for the weight of the jacket. On the other end of things, I can wear it partially unzipped up to about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. It blocks wind rather well, but still breaths due to the fleece side panels. The zipper is buttery smooth, the waist hem works well and the stretch panel wrists are really the best I have ever encountered on a jacket. I do have to layer with a moderately insulted vest under this to get by in the Idaho winters when it gets into the 20's, but, by doing that, I have avoided having to buy a full-on winter coat (eventually I will, but I love the light insulation pieces for the versatility). I can wear this all day in comfort during the cold months (unzipped inside, zipped outside).
There are two things that I would personally change about the jacket:
First, I would prefer the hood to be of normal size, not an oversized hood that fits over a helmet. While I totally get why Arc'teryx designs most of their jackets this way, I personally do not like it, as I use it for daily life, hiking, ect. I do not do any outdoor activities that require a helmet, so the hood is too roomy at the top of the head (even with the hood cinch, as it cinches more around the lower head and not so much the whole head).
Second, I prefer the Arc'teryx logo with the bird only. I love repping Arc, but I really like the more streamlined look of the bird only, not the bird AND the name "Arc'teryx". It looks a little busy.
These are fairly trivial things (though I really wish the hood was sleeker, I would consider replacing it with another one if they ever release an Atom with a more standard sized hood).
All and all, excellent product, delivers on everything it claims to be and worth the money.

      High Performance in Every Condition

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 135lbs

As soon as the mercury dips below 60º, this is the jacket I'm reaching for. It's perfect over a t-shirt on cool days, under a shell in wet weather, or paired with a fleece and worn as an outer layer for high output activities in cold, dry conditions. It deflects wind and sheds water surprisingly well so you don't have to reach for the rain shell as soon as clouds roll in and the Polartec Power Stretch fabric in the side panels let the jacket breathe so you'll still be comfortable when the sun peeks out. I'm hesitant to call this a "do-it-all" jacket, but I've been hard pressed to find a situation this jacket can't handle.

      The all in one

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 185lbs

This jacket is awesome. I have had it for a while now and have put it through all sorts of conditions. It handles great with low temperatures, and does really well with wind. I was surprised with how well it handled in the rain. I have worn it a few times when it has rained pretty hard and it has kept me completely dry. The material is extremely soft, and I am just in love with this jacket. It is extremely light weight and is my go to jacket for any situation. This jacket is a must.

      Husband loves it

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 6'3"
      • Weight: 190lbs

I bought this jacket for my husband in the dark gray color and he loves it. It's a great jacket for colder fall temps or warmer winter weather. It bridges the gap between wearing a hoody or your super warm winter jacket. It looks great and would definitely recommend this item.

Never want to take this jacket off!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 180lbs

This jacket is so warm and comfy. Its like walking around in a sleeping bag! The high side pockets are great for wearing a harness, and the stretchy sides allow tons of movement. The hood is super adjustable, and fits a helmet perfectly. I have one with the hood, and one without for the city. The only complaint i have about the jacket is that the front zipper doesn't stay put unless its zipped up all the way. Overall, this is just about the best jacket out there.

The best Hybrid option out there!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: large
      • Height: 6'2"
      • Weight: 205lbs

This jacket is the best you can get with a hybrid option. It has Coreloft insulation in the torso, arms and hood. Then the side panels and underarms are Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface Technology, which leads to it being extremely breatheable and mobile. I have used this jacket for camping, climbing, skiing, and nights on the town. It is durable, good looking, and the most versatile jacket on the market. The pockets feature a soft suede like material on the front to keep your hands nice and warm as well. The fit is as expected, and true to size with a slim cut. You need one of these I promise!

      The standard is set!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 6'4"
      • Weight: 215lbs

This is the best jacket I own. I reach for this almost every time . The fit is spot on, it insulates great for the shoulder season and even for warmer winter days or higher output activities on colder days.

      Magic?

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 6'5"
      • Weight: 190lbs

I don't know how Arcteryx has made such a warm, lightweight comfortable jacket, but they have. This jacket could not be any better.

      New Favorite Jacket

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 185lbs

This was my first Arc’teryx product so i had high expectations with the price tag. Was not dsappointed. This is a great everyday jacket that looks really good. Seems like a jack of all trades, master of none type of jacket. Isnt the warmest, lightest, or most weatherproof jacket but it packs a good combination of all.

The best jacket on the planet...period

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 135lbs

This is the most versatile jacket you will ever find. I have had mine for about 3 years and have used it year round from the frozen tundra of Minnesota to the Mountains of Utah and all over the desert in the southwest. Works great on its own or as a midlayer. Water resistant and sheds light precip. Dries super fast if you end up getting wetter than anticipated. Breathes well during high aerobic activity so you stay dry and don't sweat. Insulates when you're being less active. In cooler temps, I pair it with a vest and am good to go. It also compresses down nice and small for easy packing. True to Arc'teryx sizing. It fits slim, I could have gone with a small but I prefer a little looser fit so I chose medium.

Everyone should own an Atom LT

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 200lbs

Don't think too much on the LT. i have been touring in this jacket all winter and it keeps me plenty warm. i have been out in the 0 degree temps touring up the mountain and my fingers are cold before my body. its got the Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface Technology under the arms that allows some breath-ability.I wear this out to eat, to work, touring, base layer in the resort... its a must have.

      Great performance, but STINKS

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

Great fit, ultra light and packable, and warm, as per other reviews. However be advised it gets stinky REAL quick. One or two days on the mountain is sufficient to require a wash, or a couple days walking a lot in the city. I've found the best way to remove odor is to wash according to manufacturer's instructions except adding about 1/2 cup vinegar in a pre-rinse, followed by baking soda in the normal wash. This would be a 5 star product in my opinion, if not for the hassle of always needing to be washed.

Can this jacket work for temperatures 0-20 degrees under a shell?

Hey Ben! It really depends on what you're doing and what else you have on. The name of the game is layering and I'd recommend having a merino or some other form of baselayer on at those temperatures. The more you plan on moving around the less you need in terms of layers but if you stop moving, then you lose lots of heat production and such. This jacket is certainly a great start for adventures below freezing, but depending on what you're doing, you'll want more. If you have any other questions or want more clarification, feel free to reach out!
