    Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket

Who needs a multi-tool when you've got the ultra-versatile Arc'teryx Men's Atom LT Hooded Insulated Jacket working just the same? Metaphors aside, you might want to actually bring along a multi-tool (just in case), but for breathable insulation on any and all alpine adventures, you've got the jacket equivalent with this high-performing insulator.

Ski touring, winter hiking, frigid ice climbing routes—the Atom LT can handle it all with a durable and lightweight Tyono fabric exterior, while the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment fends off light rain and snowfall to keep you dry when overcast weather decides to throw a little moisture your way. To bolster its adaptability, the Atom LT is equipped with gusseted underarms and Polartec Power Stretch side panels to ensure an unimpeded range of motion whether you're wearing it as a midlayer or an external shell. Perhaps most importantly, though, is the Atom LT's synthetic Coreloft insulation. This breathable synthetic insulation not only retains warmth in wet weather, but also offers maximum thermal efficiency without compromising the compressibility of the fibers. A StormHood offers added coverage when your beanie isn't enough, and the adjustable hem provides a personalized, snug fit to keep the cold out.

    • An ultra-versatile insulator for all of your cold-weather pursuits
    • Coreloft insulation provides breathable warmth for morning touring
    • Durable shell has DWR treatment to shed alpine precipitation mixes
    • Stretchy side panels help you move on chilly weather climbs
    • Fixed hood slides easily over your beanie on windy summits
    • Adjustable hem seals in the warmth and shuts out the cold
    • Hand pockets give you quick access to energy bars
    • Item #ARC00UV

Never want to take this jacket off!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

This jacket is so warm and comfy. Its like walking around in a sleeping bag! The high side pockets are great for wearing a harness, and the stretchy sides allow tons of movement. The hood is super adjustable, and fits a helmet perfectly. I have one with the hood, and one without for the city. The only complaint i have about the jacket is that the front zipper doesn't stay put unless its zipped up all the way. Overall, this is just about the best jacket out there.

The best Hybrid option out there!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 205lbs

This jacket is the best you can get with a hybrid option. It has Coreloft insulation in the torso, arms and hood. Then the side panels and underarms are Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface Technology, which leads to it being extremely breatheable and mobile. I have used this jacket for camping, climbing, skiing, and nights on the town. It is durable, good looking, and the most versatile jacket on the market. The pockets feature a soft suede like material on the front to keep your hands nice and warm as well. The fit is as expected, and true to size with a slim cut. You need one of these I promise!

    The standard is set!

    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'4"

This is the best jacket I own. I reach for this almost every time . The fit is spot on, it insulates great for the shoulder season and even for warmer winter days or higher output activities on colder days.

    Magic?

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'5"

I don't know how Arcteryx has made such a warm, lightweight comfortable jacket, but they have. This jacket could not be any better.

    New Favorite Jacket

This was my first Arc’teryx product so i had high expectations with the price tag. Was not dsappointed. This is a great everyday jacket that looks really good. Seems like a jack of all trades, master of none type of jacket. Isnt the warmest, lightest, or most weatherproof jacket but it packs a good combination of all.

The best jacket on the planet...period

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"

This is the most versatile jacket you will ever find. I have had mine for about 3 years and have used it year round from the frozen tundra of Minnesota to the Mountains of Utah and all over the desert in the southwest. Works great on its own or as a midlayer. Water resistant and sheds light precip. Dries super fast if you end up getting wetter than anticipated. Breathes well during high aerobic activity so you stay dry and don't sweat. Insulates when you're being less active. In cooler temps, I pair it with a vest and am good to go. It also compresses down nice and small for easy packing. True to Arc'teryx sizing. It fits slim, I could have gone with a small but I prefer a little looser fit so I chose medium.

Everyone should own an Atom LT

Don't think too much on the LT. i have been touring in this jacket all winter and it keeps me plenty warm. i have been out in the 0 degree temps touring up the mountain and my fingers are cold before my body. its got the Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface Technology under the arms that allows some breath-ability.I wear this out to eat, to work, touring, base layer in the resort... its a must have.

    Great performance, but STINKS

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Great fit, ultra light and packable, and warm, as per other reviews. However be advised it gets stinky REAL quick. One or two days on the mountain is sufficient to require a wash, or a couple days walking a lot in the city. I've found the best way to remove odor is to wash according to manufacturer's instructions except adding about 1/2 cup vinegar in a pre-rinse, followed by baking soda in the normal wash. This would be a 5 star product in my opinion, if not for the hassle of always needing to be washed.

    Favorite Mid-Layer Synthetic Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I love everything about this jacket. 60g of Coreloft insulation is perfect for a wide variety of activities. The fit and design are spot on and the styling is ideal for technical and casual pursuits a like. I wear it backpacking, climbing, splitboarding and out to the bar. In fact, there are few times when I'm not wearing it.

My go-to, do it all layering piece

    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 160lbs

Somewhat unexpectedly I was gifted this layer, Being a geek for gear I Immediately started seeing what It could do. the most striking features right off the bat were the unbelievable DWR finish that beaded snow and light rain and even worked in heavier rain events rushing out of a crag or between classes. The next most noticeable feature was the hood with a helmet wearer in mind. Often times I see "helmet compatible" hoods that fit a helmet, but doubles as a neck brace. The Atom LT actually makes it comfortable to wear a helmet and a hood which was a welcome surprise. The jacket works best above or around the 30 degree Fahrenheit mark especially when its dry when you're moving around. Below that you definitely need to be exerting a lot of energy but the atom was definitely designed for it. I love the tapered athletic fit body and shoulders because it is stylish and sleek stand alone, and it also fits perfectly below other layers which is a must for colder weather or activities that require you to be stopped for a long period of time. The Atom's performance is definitely mitigated by strong wing where a strong breeze will cut right through the underarm fleece panels, but is easily avoided by an additional layer or a hard shell jacket. In conclusion, this jacket is great for helmet wearing folks and high output activity, but it also works great for a mid layer in colder conditions or foul weather

    Arcteryx sizing has changed

    • Size Bought: XL and Large
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I used to love Arcteryx because it had a more European fit, and for someone with my build it fit perfectly. I'm 6' 3", 185 lbs with long arms, and I could consistently buy Arcteryx XL and have a perfect trim fit. Now, Arcteryx has gone the way of Patagonia, sizing larger and larger for American chub on the waist. Now almost anything in XL fits in the shoulders and arms but is baggy and sloppy in the torso. If I order Large the sleeves are too short and the waistline rides too high. Therefore I pretty much can't buy Arcteryx anymore. Bummer because I have loved and worn the brand for a long time. I ordered this jacket in both sizes and neither fit.

This is my favorite go to jacket to wear by itself in spring/fall conditions, and has just enough water proofness that I'm fine wearing it in light rain. The hood will fit and stay secure over a helmet, but prob won't cover the front third of it. It's so comfortable I have to resist wearing it around the house. :P

I've used it as an under layer for boarding in the winter from -5 to 35, and I've never felt too warm or too cold. It has no vent pits, which I was worried at first, but I've never had an issue with it breathing, presumably through the stretchy material on the sides. For light cardio activities, I've used it by itself for snowshoeing / winter work outs and it did awesome.

I'm not normally a fan of cinched wrists and waists on jackets, but this one works to help keep it out of the way and keep you warm. It's slim enough that I can use it for recreational rowing (sculling/sweeping) in the winter months in the PNW, and I can verify that the synthetic will keep you warm even when completely soaked after being dumped in the lake in the middle of winter.

Oh and about color -- I chose the nighthawk color because on the website and from the name it looks like a dark grey/charcoal. For the uninitiated, this nighthawk hoody is more of a shade of blue.

If there are drawbacks, it prob be:
    1) it oddly does tend to absorb food smells quite a bit.. not sure if this true with most synthetics but I avoid wearing this into smokey restaurants.
    2) it will make you poor, because after this you'll want to update all your gear to arcteryx

The Atom LT is a great all-around jacket! When I first purchased this jacket I was a little bit concerned about how thin the fabric was but it has proven to be very durable.

Hands down the best jacket I ever owned

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    • Size Bought: MEDIUM
    • Height: 5'8"

I used to always wonder why these jackets are so expensive. I just couldn't justify spending that much money on a jacket, but then I tried one on outside. One word, breathability. When I was outside in the cold, it was a comfortable temperature (not too cold, not too hot). Then when I came inside, I didn't feel the need to take it off right away like most down jackets cause they get really hot. It was still perfect. Bought one the next day.

    Good jacket

I’ve had this jacket on my wishlist for awhile now, and when REI put it on sale I jumped on it. I tried on a medium and it fit my torso and the length of my arms well, but was constructing in my armpits. The large is a bit baggier through my torso, but fits better on torso length and isn’t constricting through my armpits and leaves room to layer under should I feel the need. For reference I’m 5’10” 175# and athletically built. Overall I’m excited to get this jacket out on the trail during the shoulder season as an alternative to my puffy.

What can I say about this jacket that hasn't already been said! It's an amazing piece of gear, it keeps you warm, but breathes incredibly well. It's easily the most versatile jacket I own. I also have the Cerium LT, which I love for it's warmth and compressibility, but it's not nearly as versatile as the Atom. I know I'll be wearing it for years to come!

I'm 6'4", around 160lbs and I bought size Large. It fits great, body is a little big on me but that is to be expected since I'm tall and skinny. I have Large in the Cerium as well and it fits the same!

      The best lightweight breathable jacket

I have the atom AR which is a little heavier and I've loved it for years but when I got the LT i was skeptical that it would be too thin or breath too well. To my surprise it keeps you really warm but once you get warm it really breaths well. Great for touring, hiking or just around town. You will not be disappointed.
