    Arakys Approach Shoe

Getting to crag isn't as always easy as it sounds, so Arc'teryx designed its Men's Arakys Approach Shoe to be as comfortable navigating steep, rocky scrambles as it is at the crag. Arc'teryx made the Arakys with a lightweight ripstop nylon upper with laminated TPU film overlays for extra protection from wear, and integrated a sticky rubber toe cap for extra bite on small edges and chips. Switching between climbing shoes and the Arakys is easy, courtesy of the one-handed memory buckle closure and the collapsible heel that quickly converts the shoe into a comfortable slipper when you're on belay. The Arakys is built on a TPU chassis to keep it stiff and stable when the terrain is anything but mellow, and has a lightweight Vibram sole with a Megagrip compound for sure and solid footing during those more questionable approaches.

    • Ultralight approach shoe transitions from crags to everyday use
    • Adaptive Fit Lite laminates mesh to abrasion overlays seamlessly
    • One-handed buckle closure for easy on and off
    • Barefoot-friendly leather footbed with cushy EVA underneath
    • Vibram Light Approach sole made with a MegaGrip rubber compound
    • Item #ARC00HY

    Approach shoe for the campfire

Great shoe. I wear them daily and even do workouts in them. Not a fan of the webbing strap style. Hard to keep them snug if getting yourself into a technical spot. Rather have a lace to keep them tight. That’s why I put them in the campfire approach. Great to be lazy in and enjoy the campfire. And for daily wear. But if you’re going to get technical. Spend a little more money and get some that lace up.

From hiking to lounging these shoes are all I really need. Very clean looking, very easy to clean and take care of. I know they are recommended for approach and have used them for that (work great), but ultimately these shoes are much more versatile. In a pinch they are useful for nearly anything. Arc'teryx made a winner with this one, as long as they make them I will buy this shoe. Also the heel folding down is clutch. 6 am and need a shoe to just slip on.. heck ya this shoe is my go to.

Easy to put on and crazy comfortable with great traction. Great to wear around town and for light hikes. I bought these for a trip to Kauai in November and they’ve become my favorite shoes.

Very light and the strap encloser works very well. The collapsible heel is great for camping; quickly slip on the shoe when getting out of the tent on a bathroom run. Traction is great on rock surfaces, but absolutely useless in the snow

    Approach shoe

Everything Arc'teryx makes is well done, well thought out and well engineered.Period.That said, they didn't do their best job on these shoes, although I have another pair from them that are amazing.I would just say that you need to wear a pair of shoes for their intended purpose for a week at least before making a decision on whether or not they will work for you.

This has been on the want list for about two years and I finally pulled the trigger. The reason was simple: had to work as a normal shoe with a tight/normal fit but ALSO have a collapsible heel. This nails both uses. And a "really want" was carabiner loops. Why don't all shoes have this? These look quite sharp, in fact I wear them to work regularly. They're great in Spring, Summer and Fall. I have not tried them in winter yet. I imagine they may be a bit too cold when the temps really drop. They're good for around town, good for light hiking and approaches. They'are also light which is good when clipping to your harness on multipitch. Would they work well do light climbing in? Haven't tried but my impression is sure, the same as any other sneaker or basic approach shoe. Ultimately, the collapsible heel was what sealed the deal. I'd wanted the Sportiva TX2's but no heel =( I also have the Arc'teryx hiking boots which are fantastic all around. Would absolutely recommend.

Awesome! Thanks for contributing to our community, on this new product.

The advertisement photos show both the older style buckle with the hook and the newer style buckles. Can you confirm which style will be shipped currently?

I see that these shoes have a “lifetime warranty”. What does this mean? When the rubber toe peels away in 5 years, I can send these back for new ones?????

Mark, What's up I am one of our Arc'teryx ambassadors. As far as the lifetime warranty goes let me clarify a little. Warranty directly correlates with any product faults (i.e. construction issues, arrives in bad condition, or falls apart prematurely) As far as wearing them and loving them, then returning them once they are worn out from constant usage- the lifetime warranty will not cover that. Let me know if you have any other questions at cekblad@backcountry.com Thanks!
