    Forget about that Harness feeling

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

This is a great lightweight harness that is easily forget able when you are wearing it. With it being so light one of the things that amazed me was the comfort provided while wearing it and being on one end of the rope for a long time

    Minimal feel maximum comfort

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

Had a blast using this very minimal/lightweight harness. Took some falls in it and even though it’s not padded in any way like some other harnesses are, there wasn’t any level of discomfort correlated to the lack thereof. I loved the mobility it allowed without giving up safety or comfort. Could climb in this all day! Also, it is important to not that I am a male and wear a small in men’s harnesses but the medium women’s fit perfectly.

    Super Comfy Harness

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

If you don't know already, Arc'teryx has been building and selling harnesses since 1989. They were originally called Rock Solid Manufacturing and harnesses were the first gear they made. After using all kinds of harnesses out there, I can tell you Arc'teryx's harnesses are on a totally different level! They are incredibly comfortable and lightweight, yet as strong as it gets. I've seen them made and R&D tested in person in Arc'teryx's Arc'One in New Westminster, BC, and was blown away by the amount of detail that goes into these harnesses. After wearing and seeing how they are made, I feel they are the best and most comfortable harnesses out there. Arc'teryx has 2 models of women's harnesses currently, the FL-355 and the AR-385A. The main difference is that the AR-385A (AR for All Around) has adjustable leg loops and the FL-355 (FL for Fast and Light) has fixed stretchy leg loops and weighs even less. Both are great, it just depends on your preference for leg adjustability and the size of your legs. The feature-rich AR only weighs 13.6 oz and is designed to handle any and all types of climbing. It has 4 gear loops, 4 ice clipper slots, auto-locking buckles, rear haul loop, adjustable leg loops, a quick hook that allows you to easily release the rear strap to go to the bathroom without taking the harness off. The whole harness is built with incredibly strong Warp-Strength Technology that provides an unprecedented even weight/pressure distribution across the whole harness structure, eliminating pressure points and providing next-level support. The last thing you want to be thinking about when you're climbing is your harness, so if you're looking for an extremely comfortable, lightweight, and low-profile harness with every feature you need that's as strong as they get, I highly recommend you try the Arc'teryx AR or FL harness. If you have questions about either of these harnesses or any other Arc'teryx product, feel free to reach out to me at amcclary@backcountry.com .

    Great harness

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

Lightweight and compact in my bag, easy to adjust, comfortable, gear loops are easy to access. Have used it both in the gym and outside; no complaints so far. As others have observed, there is minimal padding in the waist and leg loops, so it's still TBD how comfortable this harness will be for, e.g., rappel-heavy canyoneering trips. I have not observed any discomfort while hanging, however. Happy with my purchase.

    Awesome Harness

Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Feedback to share for a friend: Obviously this is a lightweight, low profile harness, but one of the cool features I didn't expect to be so great was the rubber-wrapped gear loops. The make it super easy to clip draws and gear onto your harness as efficiently as possible. It's also really comfortable.

    Versatile

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This harness is perfect for any climb where you're not hanging out for extended periods of time. I've worn it once on a multi-pitch with a couple hanging belays and didn't love hanging in it, but other than that, this harness is always my go-to. The stiff leg loops and waistbelt are super comfortable despite having no padding and are easy to adjust to accommodate layers for ice climbing, or lack of layers for leading in the gym.

    It's great!

Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this as a gift for a family member. She loves it, no complaints.

    Lightweight and comfortable.

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

I love the simplicity of this harness. It makes it lightweight yet it still is SO comfortable where is supports your back. Another cool feature is that the gear loops are removable. So, you can use this harness for lots of gear or take off gear loops to make life a little simpler. Arc'teryx makes my favorite climbing harnesses! Just so streamlined and comfortable.

    AR-385a

I tried a lot of harnesses before sticking with this one. I really appreciate the easy tightening ability, and the stiff gear loops. It's really lightweight and folds up small so it's easy to pack in and out. I've only used it while rapelling in canyons. The lack of padding would probably make it uncomfortable if you were hanging it in for a while, but for quick rappels it's perfect.

    Light as a feather.

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

After years of climbing in BD harnesses, my wife sprang for this Arc'teryx model. She says it's incredibly lightweight and surprisingly comfortable for having no padding, and that she's happy with the gear loops and overall design. The main sell for her was the versatility for sport, ice, and alpine disciplines. She's usually between a size S and M in women's harnesses, but she sized up to a M in the 385a so she can adjust the waist and leg loops to fit over her outerwear for ice climbing and ski mountaineering. She has a 28in waist, and found that the M has the perfect size range for daily climbing wear and fitting over cold-weather layers. She has skier quads and wider hips, and notes the leg loops do dig in a bit more than BD's harnesses, but not nearly as badly as Petzl's offerings do. The harness certainly isn't as cushy and comfortable as something like the BD Ethos for multipitch usage and long, long days, but for sport climbing and winter pursuits, the 385a takes the cake.

    To clear up any confusion

So I know Arc'teryx harnesses can sometimes not make sense and a little confusing on which one is best for you, here is a break down video from Arc'teryx to clear everything up:

    Best Harness

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

I just got this for my girlfriend and she loves it! By far the comfiest harness she's owned and has great gear storage. The neoprene design is very forgiving and lightweight. Arc'teryx has a mens version as well that I have and it is by far the best! Everyone should consider this harness when buying a climbing harness. The only thing that I would not recommend this for is big wall climbing because it is not padded in any way so you would get bruised hips and legs doing big wall climbing.

    Gear loops are horrific

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

The harness is great for hang comfort and true to size - especially if you're smaller and need an XS harness. BUT the gear loops easily separate from their plastic outer, causing gear to to catch on the inner nylon loop in the gap between the anchor points and the outer loop housing.) Contacted arcteryx about the flaws and was told it was a "feature."

    Best Harness EVER!!!

I've tried many harnesses over the last few years and this harness fits like glove. The quality and thought put into this harness makes it my go to harness for trad and sport climbing. For the long multipitch routes where you have to sit or rest on your harness.. you can't really feel it's there - unlike some other harnesses, which I've owned, that cut into your legs or your waist causing you to lose blood circulation in many areas. LOVE LOVE LOVE it..

    Great Harness

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have purchased harnesses in the past but haven't been as satisfied as I am with this one. Its completely adjustable which is great for cold weather layers. Low profile, comfortable and easy to use. I know I can trust it and always feel safe in this harness.

    Awesome Harness!

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

This harness is super lightweight and the colors are freakin sweet! I've used it several times now; it's very comfortable and shows no signs of "weaknesses". Although it's light in weight, it appears to be very sturdily made throughout (buckles, gear loops, etc...). I'm hoping this purchase will last me a while. Did I mention how much I love the bright colors?! I even got the matching chalk bag! lol :-)

    thrilled with this purchase!

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

Not only did Arcteryx continue to be spot on with their color combos, but this harness is exactly what I was looking for in security and lightweight performance. From the crag to alpine mountaineering, i'm stoked with my purchase.

    I love it!

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I've used this harness climbing at least one hundred times and it's fantastic. I've used cheaper harnesses and they're not nearly as comfortable. This harness is lightweight and doesn't make me super sweaty when climbing. Despite not being super padded it is not uncomfortable when belaying someone or when resting when you're halfway up the face. Favorite harness ever!

    poor craftsmanship

The gear loop fell apart on my first trip with this harness. I will definitely exchange the harness!

Hello, is this harness cam delivery to Asian country? I’m Malaysian and very interested in this harness. Thank you.

Hi Kristy! Unfortunately we are not able to ship Arc'teryx outside of the USA. Check out the Mammut Zephira Harness for a close comparison. We are able to ship Mammut outside the USA.
