    Highly dexterous.

From tours that end with descents down waist-deep powder bowls to scaling frozen waterfalls, the Arc-teryx Alpha SL Glove offers the dexterity and performance you need for technically demanding ascents. Made from Gore Windstopper material, this glove completely blocks wind and resists water to keep your hands warm and dry during high-aerobic ascents. A fleece lining traps body heat for light warmth, and leather reinforcements give the palm and fingers a good grip, so you'll be able to hold everything from an ice axe to ski poles with confidence. Designed with a next-to-skin fit, these gloves offer a highly dexterous feel, while a pulley adjustment system locks the glove to your hand to maximize fit and stability.

    Great protection, not super warm

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are only rated 2 out of 10 for warmth according to the packaging and I've found that to be true. Great protection from wind and the leather palm is holding up nicely for rock hopping and such when hiking. The fit is nice and snug and the gloves aren't bulky so you have a lot of manual dexterity while using them. I've had these down into the teens and they are just barely warm enough if I'm keeping active, but they won't keep you warm for long if you stop moving and start to cool down. If you have to take them off for long, don't plan on them warming up your hands when you put them back on. Very solidly built glove though and good for milder weather. Would buy again.

Solid alpine gloves, but bleeds dye

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Took a pair of these out on multi-week trip during Oct - Nov.

My hands run warm and I found them to be just right for the 15-25 degree temps encountered, all while providing great dexterity for manipulating ropes and handling tools. The leather feels almost tacky on rocks and ice and I really liked how there's nearly no slip between the gloves and my palms.

The leather does wet out though and my biggest gripe is that they'll bleed dye all over your hands when they do. I spent at least 5 days with blue/black palms, eating blue/black sandwiches and left blue/black prints all over my otherwise brightly colored gear.

I'd recommend hand washing these once or twice before taking them out.

    Initial impressions

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These are super nice and well crafted.
If you really want the warmth of a glove without the puffy glove hands, this is like a tuff AF liner.
Gave them as a gift and they have yet to be used in the snow but the recipient was very happy.
