Lightweight, very comfortable. I was worried that they might be too hot for the Texas summer, but no, they're just perfect! My next pair of boots will be in the same type, just in the other color.

Lightweight Mid GTX Sneakers, NOT Boots!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

ARC'TERYX: AERIOS FL MID GTX SHOE MEN'S Lightweight Mid Gore-Tex Sneakers, NOT Boots! I've been wearing Arc'Teryx Apparel & Gear for over 20 years, first time purchasing their footwear. I wanted to wait until Arc'Teryx properly dialed-in their Boots & Sneakers. The Arc'teryx Men's Aerios FL Mid GTX are nothing but lightweight Mid Gore-Tex Sneakers, and that's what I wanted. These are NOT boots! These are lightweight sneakers with slight ankle protection/support that utilizes lightweight and breathable waterproof Gore-Tex. I am looking for and wearing more and more Gore-Tex Sneakers, so the more Gore-Tex to add to my footwear collection the better! It's nice to have options depending on the season, weather, and temperature to add to my footwear quiver. You don't always want to have to wear your heavy hiking-boots that lacks underfoot comfort just to keep your good and expensive sneakers nice and clean and feet dry. Pros: Styling is super sleek as I like. They come in Black, a must! OrthoLite Insoles. Cons: That I would like to see the Arc'Teryx Designers tweak and update. I would like to see the midsole have additional cushioning of 1-2 mm in the fore-foot, and 2-3 mm under the heel for needed added cushioning. The Vibram Megagrip it's not so "mega", but that's fine because I wanted them for every-day use in damp rainy conditions and not to be able to slip on wet tarmac. The Vibram Megagrip is not as aggressive as expected but that's ok, it will do. I would also like to see more needed arch support. Also I noticed on the second pair I ordered that the sole and midsole glue was slightly sloppily executed. Sizing/Fitment: I feel they run true to size. BUT they do run a quarter size long in the fore-foot. I would like to see the length shortened by 2 mm! If you have a mid-volume foot and are in-between sizes I would recommend going down a half size. I always need and require a performance fit, the Aerios FL Mid GTX have that but I would like to see an additional eyelet on the fore-foot like the climbing laces set-up utilized on the Acrux TR GTX Boots. Quality: Undetermined. I don't care about grams, ounces and weight. I care about styling, fitment, underfoot comfort, lockdown, durability, longevity, and most importantly quality! As a Creative Director & Designer I've always stated and recommended to corporate, if there's footwear that's popular why not make it in two different widths. One Performance Width which is what I desire and need, and one in a Wide Width to make every end-user happy. GearFreakNY :)

Perfect fit from the start!

Bought these for hiking because my North face hiking shoes completely fell apart after 3 short 20 mile hikes (thanks backcountry for making it right!) and these required ZERO break in at all, never needed anything but a pair of socks and me going to feel the difference. Mid height supports your ankle and tendons and feels low enough that you know you aren’t wearing true boots, these things weigh almost nothing, just couldn’t be happier. As for the high arch thing, not an issue for me, so maybe the reviewers before this one are more flat footed than me? These feel great to me.

These are the best trail runner/mtn hiker I have ever owned. To this point, I have done the majority of my fast and furious exploits in either the La Sportiva Wildcat, or Salomons from earlier ages. I spend a lot of time going up and down in Colorado. A typical day is 2-3,000 feet of elevation gain, maybe a 2-3 hour hike/run. I jog flats, fast hike uphill, and run downs. These shoes are comfortable for all three. Surprisingly, running downhill is just fine, even in a mid. The sole of the shoe is like glue. I hiked up/down Gothic Mtn today, and these shoes stuck solid to anything that resembled rock. (In fairness, CO is dry right now, so if there is a bunch of dirt and debris on rock, well, ain't nothin gonna help ya). I wear a size 12, which is typical for me. So I would call the fit normal. That said, I have NARROW feet, and these fit perfectly. If you have wide feet, these may not be the shoes for you. Also, to respond to a below post. I am flat footed. The arch is not a problem for me. I do not believe this shoe has a high arch, but I definitely do not want to dispute others' experiences.

I bought a pair of the Norvan running shoes and they fit very nice so I ordered these boots in the same size, 10 1/2. Felt good out of the box but after wearing I am finding them to be rather large on me. You have to have them on for a while to get the true feel. Also, the arch is quite pronounced and is causing some discomfort on my flat feet after wearing for several hours. Boots (rugged sneakers) are nicely constructed, light and cushioned well. I'm going to try inserting different insoles...

Same trouble.. . Ordered a half size down and inserted superfeet carbon insoles.

When I first noticed/purchased Arcteryx shoes, I was afraid it would take some time for them to dial-in the design, but I took a chance since the price seemed fair. Months later, I am happy to report they seem to have jumped in head first and won. Up to this point, I have been pretty dedicated to Salomons. These new Arcteryx shoes are just as comfortable and lightweight. I have no buyers remorse on either of the pairs I have purchased.
