    The Best of All Worlds.

When tackling mountainous terrain, you can count on the Arc'teryx Men's Acrux SL Leather Approach Shoe to ensure precise footing and adaptive support, without feeling like you have lead weights attached to your feet. Touting that same minimalist and highly technical design you've come to know and love from Arc'teryx, the Acrux SL Leather Approach Shoe allows you to put your best foot forward with its seamless thermo-laminated upper and subtly aggressive outsole.

To differentiate itself from the rest of the Acrux SL line up, this shoe features a leather upper that is not only durable, lightweight, and hydrophobic, but also prevents pressure points and hot spots. The Adaptive Fit Liner consists of a non-removable, internal stretch liner that promotes ample breathability and surrounds the foot for a sock-like fit and feel. Additionally, the Ortholite footbed and EVA midsole deliver arch support, shock attenuation, and day-long comfort. The laminated heel and toe cap bolsters your defense against trail-side rocks or roots. A Y-Groove split heel is designed to improve your footing when trekking through loose terrain, which further advocates for the use of this shoe in diverse conditions. The Vibram Arc'teryx Light Approach sole features sticky climbing zone and smearing inserts for unimpeded grip, and the mountaineering heel tread to assure traction when you need it most.

    • Precise design meets technical performance in this shoe

A good option vs the non leather SL

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I have just got these to replace an Accrue SL non leather version. Same great fit. Comparable width and toe box, but a much better lacing system. The problem on the fabric SL is that if one tightens the laces normally, not saying too much by the way, the fabric can just tear up. The leather version has a better fabric support around laces and such a problem seems less probable. At least this one has withhold its first day of life with me. I also have the SL GTX version and it might just the better of all of the Accrue line up. If a rugged shoe is needed, the GTX is one step above but my leather SL are great shoes also. By the way as per other Accrux, sizing up half a point is the way to go for great confort and support. Same size is on the tighter side of things and makes a slim shorter shoe .

    Good shoe

I like that the toe box is just a bit roomy. My toes don't cram into the end of the shoe when I'm walking down hill. The shoes fit snug vertically, meaning they press down on the top of the foot a bit more than other shoes I have worn. But this doesn't affect their comfort level. Overall, a really comfortable shoe. I do wish that the upper came up a bit higher around the ankle; it seems like it might allow for small pebbles to get into the shoe. But this hasn't happened yet.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 10.5
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 158lbs

The shoes arrived the day I was scheduled to move so I took the opportunity to break them in. Over the next three days, wore them constantly for 10 hours each day while moving from and to a second story apartment . No slippage and no pain from the shoes. Literally no break in required. My new go to shoe and can't wait to use them in on the trail. Took the reviews advice and sized up a half size. Wear a 10 US/43 EU normally and went with the 10.5. As comfortable and supportive as my running shoes. Can't miss with these.

      Unanswered Question

How does the breathability compare to the SL and SL GTX? Which one is it closer to?
