I hate this model

The Provision 6 has a joke of a toe-box, these are duck-like. My biggest peeve is the tread. It picks up every little pebble available! Ruin your floors, or spend an hour picking them out. NOPE!

Gave me extensor tendonitis because of how the laces go

I had used the Altra Provision 4 for the last year or so with no problem. After 500 miles switched to these. The laces go up higher on my foot and 5 minutes into my run I developed excruciating tendonitis.

Very comfortable...up to 5 miles.

I LOVE Altras - I have Lone Peaks, Torin Plush, and Timps. I needed a replacement for my Torin Plush since they are getting run down after 250+ miles. I ran a half marathon in them and got blisters so felt that I need more of a stability shoe. I went with these after a lot of research (and buying and hating the Brooks Adrenalines). I immediately loved the feel of these when I put them on! They felt fantastic! I could tell that the guardrails were also going to be good for me. In the first day, I ran a 7 mile run (probably too much, but it was a gamble). I LOVED them...up until 5 miles. They felt faster, more nimble and stable than my Torin Plush's but I started getting HUGE blisters around mile 5 on a strange area of my foot that I don't normally get blisters in. The blisters were on both sides inside my foot between the arch and my toes. I inspected the shoe and found a couple potential issues: 1) the removeable sole is too wide for the shoe bed (I may end up cutting it) and 2) the fabric mesh on top of the shoe creases right there pinching anything nearby smashed between the mesh and the sole of the shoe. These appear to be design flaws and I'll just have to find a way to deal with them weather it be with using KT tap, cutting the sole, or some other solution. Such a shame, but it's a great shoe. I bought them to train for my next half marathon but it looks like it'll be a long road ahead of managing these issues.

Arches uneven

The left arch is significantly lower than the right arch. I'm so disappointed. I should have heeded the negative reviews

Decent Shoe

I bought a 10.5 in Dusty Pink. I loved the color which was the deciding factor for me. I have naturally wider feet than most. The width was set as standard, I bought the Escalante 3 before these and loved the width, so I was surprised to find these to be too narrow. I was disappointed and thought maybe I could stretch them out but read that if you 'have' to do that then it means it'a not a good fit so I returned them instead. I loved the extra track on the bottom and did I say the color? Beautiful shoe just too narrow. I would recommend for people with narrow feet.

My best pair of Altras yet

Definite improvements regarding quality materials and comfort with this shoe. I like to run on roads, and we get a ton of rain, so the tread design is ideal.

The only Altra shoe that I'd give zero stars to if I could.

The first time I wore this shoe was just for shopping. My left foot hurt within 10 minutes of being on my feet. I've never had foot pain. I wore these shoes three more times with the same result. I wish I could return them. I've never had trouble with Altra, and they are my go-to shoe. Now I'm uncertain about ordering them for the first time. I plan to order another brand to replace these. It was nice while it lasted, Altra.

Replacing my Hoka and Brooks!!

I am always looking for a good stability shoe and usually rotate between Brooks Adrenaline GTS and Hoka Arahi's but I could never use one of those regularly without alternating. Then I tried these and although there is less padding than those other two, the shape of the toe box and the build of the sole makes it easier feel how im landing while running. I've used these exclusively and haven't needed to rotate shoes so far ! I did get another pair of this model in another color ( so I could have an indoor and outdoor pair ) and took them out for a long run and something is wrong with the left. It feels like the arch is in the wrong spot or the build is wrong. I didn't notice at first but about 3-4 miles in , the outside of my left foot felt bruised and the next day I can barely stand because of the pain on the outside of my foot. Since I have this exact model in another color, I know it isn't how the shoes are made, something is defective in this left one.

Where Have You Been in my Life!!!

I have had three same-side hip surgeries in the past four years; my PT recommended I buy these as my gait is still off! I am not a tennis shoe wearer, but the first time I wore them, WOW, now I wear nothing else!

beware of guard rails

If you've never worn a shoe w "guard rails" beware. I have had these for three months and thought the rubbing on the inside heel near my arch was due to break in. This is my first pair of Altra shoes. Come to find out it is a guard rail that is rubbing a sore there. When I looked in the shoe to see what was causing the rub it looks like the inside is not finished properly. I love everything else about the shoe but unfortunately I am past the 30 day return time.
