Why We Like The Altra Lone Peak 7 Wide Trail Running Shoe

The 7th generation of Altra's legendary trail running shoe has landed with the Lone Peak 7. As always, the Lone Peak features Altra's trifecta—a roomy Footshape fit, a gender-specific last that's engineered for women's feet, and balanced cushioning beneath the heel and toe—to steer us toward a more natural, low-impact running style. We love that wide toe box, which lets our toes wiggle and splay naturally, and it's even roomier with this wide sizing. New for 2023, the 7 has a seamless, stitch-less upper for a more streamlined construction and an upgraded MaxTrac outsole. As this shoe continues to evolve, we're sure to see the Altra Lone Peak 7 on the feet of many trail runners, day hikers, and thru-hikers.

Most consistently comfortable sneaker ever

I wear Vibram Five Fingers most of the time because they are most comfortable. I wanted something with more protection for some adventures. Other sneakers have bothered my feet after a couple hours. These are always comfy.

The shoe I have needed all my life!

I need a wide toe box and I am so happy to have found this shoe for my hiking adventures. Not only does it fit my foot, but it is extremely comfortable and the traction is great.

Making up with running

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After a long break from running, I am giving it another go. I like that these shoes are wide and so far (a few 3 mile runs), I don't experience any tightness in my feet.

I really wanted to like these

I love my Altra Superiors and have been running in them for years. I wanted to see how a little extra cushion would feel as I start ramping up my mileage to train for a race. Plus, I love the baby blue color. Fortunately I tried them on a short flat run on a trail. They were so uncomfortable I couldn't wait to get home and take them off. I think the sole is too stiff and the laces felt too high on my foot. I'll have to see if another model works or if I need to return to my trusty Superiors.

Best toe box I have found

Altras are the only shoes I have found with a wide enough toe box. The Lone Peak 7 is pretty comfortable. I wish they had more cushion as I need a lot of it. Tried Olympus 5 but they actually felt harder in the sole.

Really disappointed in the quality change

I have been a loyal LP wearer for 5 years starting at the LP5. I got two pairs of 7s for xmas in the women's wide and they're already tearing on the inner part by my big toe. Less than 50mi. Switching brands :(

Okay but would not buy again.

Not crazy about this shoe. I much prefer the Torin 6 over the Lone Peak 7! Torin 7 is good too but the Torin 6 is the most comfortable Altra shoe I have had on.

SO happy with my Altras

I purchased Altra shoes for the first time a month ago. I have worn them for running, walking and light hiking and my feet feel amazing. I never knew having a wider toe box and support where it is really needed would make such a difference. I will be buying more when I wear these out.

No would not buy again

It is not wide toe box and the laces come loose all the time. Should have returned them but I did not and now use occasionally you need to make wide toe box and wider shoes.

My third pair of Altras, my feet are very happy.

These are completely comfortable, they make me feel springy and light. The upper conforms nicely and the tread is reliably grippy. I have had no chafing. Best running shoes I have ever had. My foot is medium to narrow and arch is medium.
