    Tenacity at its finest.

Living in the shadow of Lone Peak is no easy task, especially when its ridgeline taunts you with its mercilessly technical terrain and awe-inspiring views. So, it should come as no surprise that the Altra Women's Lone Peak 3.5 Trail Running Shoe is designed to tackle tough trails, scrambles, and descents with equal parts tenacity and finesse. The 3.5 features minimal changes from the 3.0, though it is endowed with a better fit, feel, and drainage.

Though, much like the 3.0, the Lone Peak 3.5 is fashioned with the tacky MaxTrac outsole and TrailClaw lugs, which assure unprecedented traction whether you're navigating talus or hardpack. Meanwhile, Altra's proven Foot Shape platform and Zero Drop construction allows your foot moves naturally as you run. Being the women's version, Altra shaped the Lone Peak with its Fit4Her last, which is adapted to accommodate the minimal and significant shape differences in men's and women's feet. The midsole flexes to match the natural inclination of your tendons and bones to ensure comfort reduce the risk of injury. And, since it is an Altra, the shoe's zero drop construction encourages a mid-foot landing, while the rock plate protects your foot from obstacles.

    • A fine specimen of tenacious trail running
    • Mesh upper drains well and breathes well
    • Wide platform with zero drop offset
    • Dual-density midsole attenuates impact
    • Grippy outsole rips and chews up terrain

    Good Trail Running Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These "foot shape" shoes give your toes enough room to splay naturally while doing activity. As someone with a history of foot problems, Altras are my holy grail.I used these shoes for hiking and field work for a season, and they did not hold up so well. I would stick to trail running in these shoes as the sole tends to wear away quickly. The large amount of cushion sometimes felt sloppy on my foot. And DO NOT WASH THESE- I washed a pair and they completely warped even in cold water, gentle cycle, and air dried. I went through a couple of pairs until I got a dedicated hiking boot, dedicated gym shoe, and keep these for trail running.

Learn to Love the Zero Drop

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I recently hiked the PCT and spent a helluva lot of time on my feet. And oh how those doggies bark. One pair of these babies got me almost 700 miles before falling apart. However, the next pair blew out in about 100 miles--was a little disappointed. I ended up switching after a while because I couldn't handle the zero drop--it can do a number on your achille's tendons. So if you're interested, I would recommend transition to zero drop slowly if you're doing a long hike.

Altras tend to also run small. I typically wear a size 6 but eventually had to size up to an 8.5. Loved the wide toe box--kept my piggies happy. However, thru hiking can do a real number on your feet and body. I'd definitely turn to these for my shorter backpacking trips and trail running excursions.

My feet are fat and wide.
This shoe gives and takes the strides of hiking, trail walking and running.
They have become my go-to pair of shoes for outdoor adventures.

    Love / Hate

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I haven't found a trail shoe that I love as much as these however they wear out fast depending on the regularity of use. I've taken mine on long backpacking trips and they've provided the love and support my feet need. Definitely recommend Altras'!

    Love/hate relationship

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When I initially started wearing these shoes I hated them. They are pretty wide so my feet slide to the front when running down steep trails, but as I have worn them in I have grown to really like them for their comfort, grip and extra room in the toes. Just know that I usually wear 8 or 8.5 in running shoes and had to get a 7.5 in these

    Love these shoes!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These are the most comfortable trail running shoes I've ever owened. The extra room for my toes is awesome. I wish Altra made shoes for all occasions.
