Not enough arch support
I really wanted to love these sneakers. They look great, and feel great, but unfortunately having planters fasciitis I need something with better arch support. Sadly returning.

Not the same
This Escalante 3 is different from the ones I bought before-I have developed major heel issues bc of this shoe.I loved the first pair I bought 2 years ago...something has changed . I'm so disappointed that I can't return these now.

My feet hurt sooo bad! Please help me find the right shoe
This is my second pair of Altra's. My first pair were Torrins, and I wore through them after 3 years. They were the most comfortable pair of tennies I've ever owned. I switched to the escalante 3, not realizing how different they'd be. I ordered the same size 9.5, and the are somehow longer than my torrins, and more narrow all the way through. What I really don't understand is why my feet hurt SO bad after a casual walk. My heels specifically along with the sides and middle. I am so bummed. I want to order a different pair knowing how much I loved my first pair but I don't want to go through this again. Can you please explain to me why the differences, and what is causing the pain? Help me find the right walking shoe? Thank you!

Comfy BUT
I was so pumped to have these shoes! I hadn't found sneakers with a natural toe box, and was happy to find Altra. I needed shoes for work as a fitness coach, that could also work for some running. These checked those boxes! They felt pretty good when I put them on! I have lone peaks, which have a pretty wide toe box, so these were comfortably snug. It was a very smooth transition to this sneaker and I never had any discomfort breaking them in. Now, this is where I get disappointed. I haven't even had these a year and the fabric on my pinky toe side is ripping. The sole of the ball of my foot is worn almost all the way down. There are holes appearing at the bottom. Now, I know sneakers are limited to so much mileage, but I'm not doing anything strenuous in them. I've actually only run in them a handful of times. Most of my time spent in these is walking on the sidewalk or around our gym. I have separate shoes I work out it, so these are spared. I'm pretty disappointed as I've never had any sneakers last this short. I have to deliberate if I buy these again, and the only reason would be because of the toe box and initial comfort. I may have to research other brands. Not that price is an issue, but spending this money on a shoe that has barely lasted 10 months is disheartening.

Would have been 5 stars if it weren't for the lacing
Nice ride, comfortable, perfect for long & easy runs, and good enough for speed (a bit on the heavy side). My only gripe is the lacing. Had to skip the 2nd lace to make it not rub the wrong way.

I love my Altra shoes!
I bought mine at Fleet Foots and wanted to find a barefoot shoe. They didn't have any, but showed me 3 options that had a wide toe shoe. I love these shoes! They feel so much better than my Brooks. I do a lot of walking for my job and I can wear these shoes for 10 miles and it still feels comfortable. I love the wide toe box and the medium cushion. I'm hoping they have a sale so I can buy a 2nd pair.

Shoelaces are too short
I love my Escalantes, but THE LACES ARE TOO SHORT (size 11). I don't know how many reviews Altra needs that state this, but apparently it's more than have already been written. With each pair I buy, I also have to buy laces. I was hoping that the new purple shoe (cuter in person than online, BTW) would have longer laces but, nope! Still way too short for a heel lock lace, or even for someone with a wide foot and high arch. And it's extra disappointing because the laces that come with the shoe are super cute and I can't find an exact match.

So disappointing!
I've worn Escalantes for several years now, but I had to return these. They felt tight, clunky and uncomfortable, the thick tongue was not an improvement over the soft, thin, sock-like one on the previous model. PLEASE bring back the older version, with some neutral color options! I can't find any other shoes to equal those!

very different, and worse, than the earlier escalante
Been buying Escalantes for many years - have had opinions about small things that were better/worse on different models, but overall, they were all good and I kept buying. These Escalante 3 I just bought are NO GOOD. The cushioning is too much, they don't feel like a zero drop, and while they say it is the same standard foot shape it feels more narrow in the same size i've been buying for years. Laced as loosely as can be over the mid-foot, they still press and rub, but at the same time, feel loose in the heel. The laces can barely tie with how loose I had to make it to not have my feet fall asleep. Feels totally different on a run. They are different enough I psyched myself out thinking ?have I really been buying escalantes, maybe my old shoes have always actually been the racers? - but sadly, no. These are just a completely different and worse shoe. Will not buy again unless the features go back - which is sad because I've been so happy just getting the same shoe for years - will be a bummer to try to find another brand/model fit.

Listen to people
The lady just told ypu these are horrible :( You don't even have anything to say? Did you pass on the message? Why change a good thing? Do you also run? Doesn't our opinion override yours?
