Lightweight protection for three-season backpacking.
The Alps Mountaineering Koda1 Tent is lightweight and protective so you can go backpacking from brisk springs through rainy autumns. Alps Mountaineering built the tent's walls partially out of mesh to bring the summer breezes in, the fly out of polyester for UV-protection, and the floor out of PU-coated taffeta for abrasion- and water-resistance. Two poles provide a quick and simple setup as well as sufficient head space, and one vestibule gives you plenty of room for your backpacking gear. Alps Mountaineering also included a gear loft, mesh storage pockets, aluminum stakes, guy lines, and repair swatches for your convenience.

Was dirt on the stakes and fabric. Also came with a few small square fabric pieces that were either ripped or cut (not sure what they're for?)

I have purchased 2 of these tents because I thought I lost my first one. Its light, affordable, I stay dry and warm when it rains and the mesh top is great on warm nights. I am in AZ and do not use the rain fly often but it's just a few simple clicks to put it on. The set up is just 2 poles that slip through plastic hooks...its easy up and easy down. This tent is one of my favorite and most reliable pieces of backpack equipment.

This is a great light weight tent easy to pack in for a backpacking trip. I am not an extreme camper, However I do enjoy being comfortable. I am 6'4 and fit in the tent nicely. I used this tent to camp in East canyon in Utah. It was raining for the whole camping trip but I found it easy to keep dry as well staying warm for the whole trip. I definitely recommend this for a quick summer weekend camping trip.

Great tent.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Took this on an overnight backpacking trip to George Washington National Forest. Some details: 19.2 miles, low of 19 degrees (yes there was snow on the ground), 2900' elevation gain. Packed very well without provided carrying bag, condensation was a minimum with one vent left open during the night (inside was completely dry) only the vestibule had condensation drips. I set it up on top of a cheap $5 tarp as a foot print and no snow/water came through the floor. Excellent wind coverage and with guy lines staked out, this thing does not budge. I upgraded the stakes and lines to blaze orange for better visibility at night. I love this tent and will be using it for many more trips as it is a very reliable shelter no matter the weather conditions. I used a Marmot Eco-lite sleeping bag (Mens regular) paired with thermarest pad and had enough room inside to keep away from walls of the freezing cold tent. I am 6' and had enough room to keep from touching the tent while sleeping. Being able to sit up and snack on something is a plus, along with taking care of all sanitation while inside. Overall, this tent is well worth the money. Not that anyone is looking, but the thing looks great. The built in windows come in handy when you hear weird noises :) And the accessory sling is very helpful for storing gloves, hat, candy bar, headlamp, whatever--awesome touch. ALPS Mountaineering, thanks for a great product. Backcountry, thanks for fantastic customer service and being able to get this thing to me in no time.

Good quality and design

Tent is good quality and design for the price with ample (sit-up) height and length for average size adults. . However, 32" floor width limits the width of sleeping bag size you can use. Most mummy bags are 34" wide.

Great value, "lighter" weight
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Solid sleeper with room INSIDE for a full size pack ( I'm 5'11") . Does well in heavy summer rain with footprint. Little over 3 lb, so not the lightest, but 1/2 the weight of my previous tent. Ok ventilation with cover on . used about 8 days summer 2018 on AT in Pennsylvania

Great for Bike Touring

- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Bought this for my dad as he is doing a bike tour around Lake Eerie. He loves the tent and it is small and lightweight enough to not make him drag while on his trek. So far so good.

Bought for my sons to use on Trail Life USA backpacking trips. The tents set up and tear down quickly and easily. Overall, a very good product at a reasonable weight and price.

Happy Dad
I bought this tent as a gift for my dad because it was light weight allowing him to pack it on his small airplane. He used it during a trip to Oregon and was raving about how quick it was to pitch and its perfect height to place under the wing of the plane. He got an awesome tent and I achieved the favorite child award.

I've had this tent for a little over a year now and have slept in it about 20 nights or so. I primarily have used it backpacking. My only small complaint is with the stakes, which are really soft and bent all kinds of crazy ways if you hit them wrong or perhaps strike a rock accidentally. Buying some different stakes could easily remedy that, though. This thing has been though a couple downpours, many strong winds, and nights down to the high 30's and I've yet to have an issue. My 65 liter pack fits nicely in vestibule space. As others have said, you can get a lighter tent for more money, but for the amount you pay the Lynx is a great tent that I plan on getting a lot of use from.

So far so good

I've had my alps mountaineering tent for close to a month now and so far I love it. I've taken in backpacking in the deserts of southern Utah and the mountains of Wyoming. The tent is light and easy to carry, the aluminum poles feel much more sturdy than fiberglass, and the zipper works great (which is always the bane of my existence as far as tents are concerned). If you're looking for a great, low priced backpacking tent this is the way to go!

Great tent for what you pay for
- Familiarity:

I needed something a bit lighter than my regular tent for backpacking. Sure it's not the lightest on the market (especially for a 1-person tent) but for the price it can't be beat. I would recommend getting some lighter tent stakes to save a few ounces. Contact me directly at 801-204-4578 or gboogert@backcountry.com if you have any additional questions or need help with a backpacking setup!

Great
Compact, lightish, and warm when the rain cover is on. Make sure you bring the stakes to keep it from flying away.

Good tent for the price

After years of using the Eurika Solitaire i decided to get a freestanding solo tent. this was very easy to set up. all the materials seem sturdy and i really like the 2 vents on top, being able to sit up, the aluminum polls, the clip system, and the vestibule. it stayed warm inside in the low 20's this weekend. the vestibule is nice and it beats sleeping with my pack in the tent. the only condensation i saw in the 2 days sleeping in it this weekend came from the dog laying against the tubs wall. it is not the lightest but, For the price this is a nice tent!

Does a tarp need to be under the tent or is it good by itself?

Would my dog and I sleep comfortably in this? Debating between a 1 or 2 person tent for us. I am about 5 3 and 120lbs and he is about as long as me laying down and 100lbs. Doing some extended back country trips and trying to trim down on pack weight.

Hi! What is included in your term, "Trail Weight". I'm looking for the weight of the tent, the fly/guy lines, poles and stakes. Like I'd actually carry in a pack. Thanks. Jim

The trail weight is the tent body, poles, and fly. It does not include the guy lines and stakes. The actual weight of what you will be carrying will be closer to the 3 lbs 15 oz packed weight.
