    Lightweight, quick, and easy.

The ALPS Mountaineering Wilderness Foam Mat is great for impromptu camping trips when you don't want to bother with finding the pump for your inflatable pad, and it also makes a great spare mat for that one friend who always needs to borrow a pad. Closed cell foam is lightweight yet cushy and insulating, and the accordion folding design helps it pack up small.

    15.4 oz not 10oz

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Looking to shed some ounches, thought for 50% off normal price for $17.49 on sister site It claimed it’s weight was 10oz and for that price there are no options to compete with it. But, it weighs in a 15.4 ounces, now if it was maybe a half an ounce off I wouldn’t have said anything, but this pad is 154% of its claimed weight, that’s quite the descrepancy, and at just about a pound there are other options to consider. I love Alps mountaineering gear, I have 2 sleeping bags and a tent, I think it’s good quality gear, but this hyperbole in weight has me perturbed.

Other than that it’s a collapsible foam sleeping pad, I think it’s comfortable for any pad, will be indestructible and great to use as an internal back support of you go UL or frameless.
I’ll post a follow up or revision after further use if my opinion changes. Moving out west and will use it with my service with the NPS. If I wasn’t moving so soon, I would return it, but will unlikely be able to get a replacement in time. Overall Pleased with the product, not the companies weight claims. 3 stars

    Weighs 16 oz, not 6.

The packaging and's description both said 6 oz for the pad, which is obviously impossible for a full length pad. I bought it with a good discount to see if there is any magic involved. Alas, it weighs 16 oz not 6. Still a solid CCF pad, just not magically lightweight. Compare to Thermorest Zlite Sol, this pad seems slightly thicker but perhaps not quite as warm without the reflective material.

      Worth it.

The cost/benefit analysis of this pad is great. It gets the job done. It may not be the best on the line, nor is it the most comfortable, but it works and keeps you somewhat comfortable and keeps you off of the ground/snow. I will eventually upgrade to a more comfortable one for longer trips, but for now and doing 2-3 nights, it works well. Definitely a worthy buy!
