Add water in increments
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Be sure to add water in stages. This meal in particular is easy to drown, leaving you with a soupy bag of sadness. Add water in increments and stir thoroughly.
Overall Good Taste
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The rice needed more time to cook than the 10-12 minutes suggested, but after re-sealing the bag for another 7-10 minutes approximately, the rice was no longer crunchy. Overall, a descent backpacking meal.
SO BANGER
Just eat it.. you're in the mountains.
Good camp food
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Disclaimer: all my food reviews will be after I've been out in the middle of nowhere for a few days, mostly eating bars, so anything hot is going to be the best meal of my life.
I'd recommend letting it sit with hot water for an extra 5 minutes at least to make sure everything gets cooked.
good
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
i thought this was a good fast meal i had no problem with the rice just don't use too much water or you will end up with soup.. will get again
Stay away from rice
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This was my second AlpineAire meal and I wish it was better. The rice didn't fully cook and I had to finish this guy off in a pot with some water.
After supplemental cooking the food was alright. Not amazing, but I wolfed it down because I was hungry.
I like AlpineAire but will, be staying away from rice based meal because this didn't fully cook in the 10-12 minutes suggested.
I'd put money on this being a case of "If you're lookin, you ain't cookin"
