The Alpina Alaska 75mm Backcountry Boot is bold, strong, and no-nonsense. Alpina modeled it on a burly hiking boot, with a tough leather and synthetic upper that protects your foot from the elements and endows the boot with a moderately stiff flex for plenty of control, uphill and down. For extra protection, it integrated a waterproof and breathable Alpitex membrane into the boot, so extended tours won't leave your feet soaked and also included Thinsulate insulation to keep your toes warm when you're making your way through wild woods, up steep hills, and across untracked fields. The Vibram sole provides a solid and fairly stiff platform for increased control of wider, heavier skis, and the anatomic footbed supports your arch for serious comfort when you're spending the whole day on the move.

Could be better
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- 43
- Height
- 5` 10"
- Weight
- 175 lbs
Have used these several times for “walk in the woods” with the dog. The fit is not bad. I wear sz 10 normally and I got the 43. The only problem is, like all tele type boots they have to flex behind the toes. They tend to pinch because of this. I’m keeping the tours short and hoping this gets better. A bigger problem is the ensoles don’t come out. I am a fan of “superfeet” and I’d much rather have them in the boots than the worthless ones that come with almost all shoes. So far they’re tolerable and I’m hoping they break in as time goes. They are warm and my feet don't get wet, so on that front no issues at all.

Look like they would be great boots
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
They look well built and warm, but they were just a bit narrow in the toe box to accommodate my bunions. I returned them - I love Backcountry customer service. If you need lots of toe box room, check out the Alfa Skarvet/Greenland.

Warm, comfortable boots
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These boots are my warmest and most comfortable set. Good for long days—no blisters, hot spots, or tightness. Haven’t gotten wet or hot or cold in them yet, so they’re pretty good in a wide variety of conditions. Got them for my birthday In late December, and they’re still good as new.

Soles are ripping
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I loved the boots until the soles started to rip off at the toe after maybe 100 days of skiing (light touring set ups/Rotta bindings). I am very disappointed and do not recommend the Alpina Alaska boots - they fell far below the expectations of an expensive "expedition" boot.

Mine are failing
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I really loved these boots, I also thought they would last a long time, mine are falling apart, they outlasted the warranty, but still fell short of my expectations. The vibram sole is ripping off on one of the boots. But I liked them and I am testing stuff to glue them back together.. aqua seal only lasted a few days

What’s the story with the reviews that the toe / sole is tearing? Is BC seeing a lot of these come back, and has the mfr acknowledged a defect? Alternately / also, are these re-soleable?
