    Intelligent design.

Not so different than the way you like your coffee (simple, black, no sweetener), the Alchemy Equipment Men's Pertex ShieldPlus Mid-Length Jacket radiates mid-century modern design and uncomplicated style. And while the Pertex ShieldPlus jacket refuses to skimp on style, it certainly doesn't pinch on practicality either. Thanks to the waterproof Stretch Pertex Shield+ fabric and fully taped seams, this jacket provides paramount protection from precipitation of all forms while the adjustable hood, hem, and cuffs as well as the waterproof zippers keep moisture out and comfort in. Additionally, the Pertex Shield's elegant and tailored silhouette is sure to fit in from Brussels to San Francisco.

    Small but beautiful

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XXL

Size: I ordered a XXL, but it fit like a small L. The jacket was so small, I couldn't even get it on. In comparison, my recent XXL Mountain Hardware jacket not only fit comfortably, but it had room underneath for a down jacket insulation layer.

Weight: The weight wasn't listed on the website, so I wrote and asked backcountry.com. I was told the jacket was 7g, which was exactly what I was looking for, so I ordered it. When the jacket arrived, I immediately knew it wasn't an ultralight shell. I weighed it with my luggage scale and it is .7kg which is 700g, not 7g.

The jacket is beautiful, solidly constructed, and well made. The primary advantage this jacket has over others is that it's logo delete... perfect for dressing up/down when traveling while still having the function of outdoor gear. If you pack a heavy bag, it'll work well as a travel jacket. For the minimalist, well... it's 700g. It all depends on what you are looking for.
