You don't have to hit Everest or collect all the 14-footers in Colorado to get your blood moving, the Men's LaVal Low GTX Hiking Shoe is perfectly content at lower elevations. Gore-Tex keeps your feet dry when you're hitting muskeg outside Anchorage, but also offers breathable comfort if you're taking it near the humid trails of the Pacific Northwest. The super grippy soles are inspired by mountain bike tires, so feel free to explore more rugged mountain trails without worrying about slipping into a raging river while you're taking a selfie, and enjoy a comfortable hiking experience with the well-thought-out footbed and midsole.

- Q & A
A burly but casual do-anything style.
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 11
These are the shoes you buy if you want one pair that can do anything. They look good enough for a night out, but they're definitely burly enough that I'd be confident hiking in them. They're comfortable right out of the box with lots of support for your foot so you could wear them all day no matter what you're doing.
The fit was right on for me. I wear an 11 most of the time, and can get away with a 10.5 sometimes. The 11 was the perfect fit.
As a dedicated hiking shoe, there's possibly a better option if weight is your primary concern. As a dedicated casual shoe, you might find something you like better. As a do-it-all shoe, this is as good as I've ever worn.
