The gold standard in comfort and performance.

Every bit as luxurious as sports cars, handcrafted watches, and fine caviar, the Airblaster Men's Merino Wool Ninja Suit is what suave British spies wear when they hit the slopes. Airblaster gave the fabric a tune-up this season to make it softer, stronger, and more high-performance than ever before.

The new Woolverino fabric blends Merino wool with high-strength Tencel and stretchy Lycra. Merino wool is super-soft and renowned for its temperature-regulating and odor-resistant properties, and Lycra lets you move comfortably while you ride. The addition of Tencel makes the fabric 44% stronger than previous models, helps it dry twice as fast, and makes it even softer than before.

The fit is next-to-skin to help it wick moisture more efficiently. A seven panel form-fitting hood covers up your dome on extra cold days and thumbholes at the cuffs prevent snow from getting in your sleeves. There's no need to worry about what happens if you need to use the bathroom when you're at the mountain, as a 350-degree waist zipper makes it easy to take care of business without having to completely undress.

    Best out there

I've skied with the ninja suit for 3 seasons now, and it has yet to disappoint. I've skied them ~90% in bounds and 10% touring. They don't get too hot on the uphill but provide great insulation on cold days. My only complaint is that the upper body is a bit baggy around the abdomen.

    Very warm but quite thin.

I love this piece as a first layer when I ride my bike in the winter. It's fantastic as a warm under layer. The only problem I've found is it's pretty thin, so if it's wet, it rips easily. I ripped mine at the ankle trying to take it off while it was wet. Very disappointing.

    Super warm and pretty comfortable

This thing is pretty awesome as an under layer or just a onesie to rock (hopefully in the privacy of your own home). It is a little scratchy at first, but feels awesome in no time.

I have to admit, that the zip not doing the full 360 is a fail and you will know it most on the can.

Otherwise, great feel, warmth, performance and style!

    Love love love it.

I will never snowboard without a ninja suit again. The system really can't be beat. No cold spots on your back from where your baselayer tops and bottoms don't meet. The hood is great for super cold days, and the wrist gaiters keep your sleeves from riding up and keep everything in place.

There is no rub from the waist zipper, and the fit is true to size. As others have said, it can be a little itchy right out of the box, but one or two washes will solve that.

Additionally, it's merino! So it's naturally antimicrobial to fend off the stank after a long day (or four) on the mountain, and it wicks moisture to keep you dry.

    Feel good

This suit actually makes you feel ninja like! weather your on the couch snuggling with the pups and playing video games, or Shredding the slopes like a boss. The zipper around the waist gives you fast access for a speedy number 2 in the lodge that way you get back to ripping ASAP. I own one in the Merino and one in the synthetic. If your looking for something super warm go with the wool.

    The Ninja Suit

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

This is the go-to base layer. One and done! Or easy enough to layer it up with other base layers on the super cold days. The material does end up being soft- but you do need to wash it once or twice, right out of the box it is a little itchy. The fit is right on point, my bf is 5'10 and 165lb, the Medium fits perfectly- next to the skin fit without being suffocatingly tight. As far as the zip goes, it seems to sit on him well, doesn't seem to rub under the waist of his pants. If you're in the market for a good solid base layer for top and bottom, the merino ninja suit is an excellent choice!

I tell all of my friends they need one of these, and I mean it! Warm, breathable, stretchy, comfy, excellent features. It's not skin tight (kind of a dad-bod (chubby man) cut) but it's not baggy enough to be bothersome. The thumb holes are the best I've ever felt, super ergonomic design that doesn't cut into your hand and the hood also fits perfectly around your noggin. The waist zipper makes going #2 super easy, even when squatting in the woods. Wear it for weeks on end and it still won't smell at all! So much better that 2 piece top/bottom combo for cold weather, especially under bibs. Perfect mountain man attire, just get one!

    Fits well but it's itchy

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I bought the following to try them all out:

Airblaster - Merino Wool Ninja Suit (M)
Fits comfy, not too tight/big but it's pretty itchy. The 350 degree zip is noticeable just trying on the suit - not sure if it'd be noticeable once you're moving though.

Icebreaker - BodyFit 200 Zone One Sheep Suit (M)
Size is a little loose but overall really comfy. The material is not itchy and it looks like I'm in a wet-suit according to my wife.

    Norrøna - Wool One-Piece Long Underwear (S)
Fits snug - should have gone w/a medium but the size chart indicates a M for me would work best. Material felt nice but I liked the Icebreaker more.

Patagonia - Capilene Thermal Weight One-Piece Suit (S)
Fits well (a little snug but not tight) but wasn't sold on the colour. The thumb hooks are very tiny and just not satisfying like a full thumb loop w/material over the knuckles.

    One and Done Baselayer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 160lbs

This Ninja suit is sick. Not only do you only does this one piece allow you to layer up in a hurry but the antimicrobial features of the merino wool allow for multi day uses with no smell. I ended up being right on the boarder line between Medium and Large however went with the large as merino works best when close to the skin allowing for maximum breathability and ability to wick sweat away. Must admit that the suit felt a little scratchy at first when I first tried it on out of the box, however I washed it after a week of use and the material is no longer itchy and feels great! The Suit fits true to size.

    was expecting more

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

It's ok. I don't really like the way the waist zipper works, it is a little too low and would rather a full zip instead of 3/4. Was not as warm as I thought it would be.

    Weird fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: LARGE
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I purchased this and an ice breaker hooded one-piece and I like a lot about this Ninja suit, but the waistline zipper is just too low. I like the material better (at least they try to sell it as better - see description above) and it certainly feels softer than traditional merino wool. I like the hood better - it has an extra panel on each side for better fit and the piping around the rim of the hood is better. The sleeve cuffs are better than Ice Breaker's - they are elastic and won't stretch out over time.

If the 350 degree zipper was higher so it was actually around my waist, I would have gone with this for sure, but even sitting in it several times in my living room, I could tell that chairlifts and sitting around a fire would bother just enough that it wasn't unnoticeable. Bottom line: I went with Ice Breaker's version.

    Best one piece suit

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have used this suit many times and I love it. It is by far the best and warmest base layer that I have used in a long time. The hood feature is great because you can put it under your helmet and it provides great protection against wind on your neck. The only thing that is interesting about this suit is the 3/4 zip to go to the bathroom. It does not give you a lot of room to work with so I would recommend taking the top part off.

    Best base layer there is.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"

For anything winter, this is the best base layer you can have. I've thrown it on to go sledding and worn it for 2 weeks straight on a nols skiing course. The hood is great for throwing on and off when you get toasty on the skin track, the full zip is great for venting as well. It's not exactly warm in and of itself. Actually its very thin, which can be great if you're ski touring or hiking. It makes up for that with being super comfy under all your other layers. Also the merino wool doesn't get to smelly!

    Awesome Base Layer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I waited way too long to buy a ninja suit. Now that I have it I'll never look at another base layer again on a cold day. I found that this item fits true to size based off the sizing chart.

    All about that ninja life

I've been sleeping on these suits for years now. For various reasons, I wasn't able to take them seriously. The fact of the matter is - these suits are no joke. Almost immediately, it became one of my favorite possessions and I kicked myself for waiting so long to get one. The simplicity of the one-piece design is super comfortable and extremely effective. No excess fabric, waistbands etc.. When gearing up for the day, I can't think of a better layer to start with . Add to all that the fact that it's Merino Wool! I could go on all day about this suit. Do yourself a favor, join the clan

    Best base layer out

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

The ninja suit is hands down the best/warmest base layer I own. Perfect for almost every type of weather on the hill, If you're looking for a super functional base layer that will keep you super warm on those cold pow days look no further.

    its not cold outside

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

This ninja suit is soo nice, wore this up snowboarding and i stayed so nice and toasty! This runs true to size.
So if you want to stay warm while snowboarding or playing in the snow you need one of these!!

    Warmest Ninja on the mountain

Airblaster is the originator of the ninja suit design. Having the 3/4 zip at the waist is key with these for your full days on the hill. You cannot compare many of the other brands to the designs and functionality of the Ninja suit. Great for almost all conditions from snowy days, to cold blue bird pow days, but maybe a bit too warm for some during spring riding unless you have the chest unzipped. I wear the ninja suit without layering beneath and the zipper is not noticed at all, this thing is comfortable!

    Great suit

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 190lbs

First off the merino wool is def worth the extra cash for the conviences that it carrys. Much more breathable yet still as warm as can be without getting all wet and stinky. If your stuck with sizing I'm 6'1 190 lbs with an athletic build and the large fits me well. I also tried on an XL however I had too much slack around the waist area where it looked like I was wearing a saggy diaper. The large fits snug but still enough room where it's not compressing my entire body. One thing to note is they did away with the waist tie. Not sure why but now any extra room kinda just hangs there. I recommend you take your waist size into consideration when looking at the sizing chart. The waist still compresses and expands so it gives you some leeway but the zipper is 360 degrees at that area so it takes away from the stretch a little bit at the waist. Hope that helps any potential buyers!

hey vincent, did you notice anything about itchiness for the wool? also, do you think the large would fit me (6'4, 190lbs, athletic build) given that it fits you at 6'1? i assume the XL would be way too big for me -- im a 32 waist

Nice suit but needs special care

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

This suit is awesome but the wool fabric demands special care: gentle wash with will detergent, and no tumble trying. You have to lay it flat to dry. This seems like too much work for me but backcountry customer support was happy to exchange this for the standard ninja soon. Thank you backcountry!

Does this suit have a buttflap in the back?

Hey Shawna - This Airblaster suit does not have a butt flap but instead a 350-degree waist zip that essentially functions the same way. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
