I have this the AX3 already but as the low top and without Gore-tex. After looking forever for a good vegan hiking boot and finding many of them either too narrow or not durable, but I think I have landed on this one as my favorite (well without spending over $300) The fit is the exact same as the other Terrex shoes, I was worried it would be tighter with the gore-tex membrane, but it fit perfect. However I am more of a 9.5 in other Adidas shoes (I have two pairs of their skate shoes and the handball shoe) so I would probably recommend sizing up a half size, especially if you are going to wear thick socks (I have a thick pair of Kirkland wool socks on with them now). Many other reviews I have read say they are broken in out of the box, however I would recommend walking a few miles in them before taking them on a long hike. The upper feels great but something about the soles needs to soften up with break in. I took my low tops to the Angel Bright Train at the Grand Canyon after only breaking them in on a treadmill for a couple of days, and the bottom of my feet ached so bad, but weeks later they felt perfect- hence me ordering another pair. This is a small thing, but I also read a review on Amazon or Adidas or somewhere saying the shoelaces were too short, that seemed like a weird complaint, but I will say they are laughably short, so maybe order a longer pair to go with them, especially if using a heel lock tie.

I have to have all black shoes for my courier job. I live in Colorado so you never know what the weather is going to be like come mid day. These boots have seen it all. Rain, snow, ice, and mud. Great traction, lightweight, waterproof and comfortable. 12 hour days and I haven't had any problems with foot pain or discomfort. If you have wide feet these boots would not be the best ones for you. They fit my feet great but they are narrow. I am sure they would be great for hiking too. Hopefully I can test them out on the trail soon.

Would these shoes be good for backpacking with a sub 40 lb. pack?
