I've put it through the wringer

WOW!!! Wish I had this tool Years Ago

This is such a brilliant concept that I'm so happy is available. No fussing around. I absolutely recommend this tool for those that find wrenching therapeutic

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Function and Form

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm a tool geek. I'll buy tools that I may only use once per season, just because I think they look cool ... but the fact that they are beautiful does not diminish that I need my tools to work the way that I want them to, even if I'm not using them every day like shop mechanics. This means that I'd rather have an ugly tool that does its job over a pretty tool that doesn't. Abbey's dual Crombie and Chain Whip are top-notch in both function and form ... which is a rare, and welcome combination.

Agreed. But the tools you buy save you money and time, right?

Rare for me to give a tool 5 stars

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This tool is an absolute must for anyone who works on their bike regularly or is a professional wrench. Back when I worked in a shop, I had to put a lock on my tool box purely because this tool was in it and my coworkers kept stealing it. The finish of the tool is beautiful, welds are perfect, and it has lasted me basically since they first came out with it a couple years ago with no notching or warping of the splines. Also works great for centerlock lockrings, without having to remove hub endcaps. Genuinely feels like a tool I will never have to replace.

Obvious.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is probably the most obvious tool in the history of cycling that hasn't become a commonplace sight. The fact that it's built by Abbey is just an added bonus--no cheap, throw-away, blue-handle nonsense.

This is such a convenient tool

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I love that it's one piece and that it has both campy and shimano/sram. No more working with 3 tools (wrench, cassette tool and chain whip) to remove a cassette.

If you wrench, you'll appreciate it!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

After countless years of using a lockring tool in conjunction with an adjustable wrench, the Crombie tool is very nice to use. No fumbling around and it works great. The construction quality is excellent and the ability to store it with the Abbey Chain Tool seals the deal for when you need to travel with it. If you're a wrench you'll really appreciate this one!

Some of the reviews refer to this as multi-purpose in that it also negates the need for a separate chain whip? How so?
