    Twice as nice.

The bungee cord, twine, and tape system you’ve devised to attach two bikes to the roof of your car really is pretty ingenious, but the hourlong setup and tear-down might be cutting into your ride time, you know? It’s probably better to upgrade to Yakima’s TwoTimer Hitch Rack, which is way easier to use, sleeker, and more secure. The security comes from the two ratchet straps, one of which secures each wheel, and the padded arm in the middle that locks in over your top tube to keep your rig secure at highway speeds and over back road bumps. This holds true regardless of your discipline of choice; the wide trays of the TwoTimer carry road bikes, trail bikes, DH sleds, cruisers, and even fat bikes (although these need special ratchet straps to secure the wheels).

Versatility is the name of the TwoTimer’s game. Not only does it carry pretty much any bike, but it fits both 1.25in and 2in hitch receivers, and it locks in place with Yakima’s Single Key System. You can swap out lock cores for any other Yakima offering, too, if you want all your racks and roof boxes to operate on a one-key system. Need access to the hatch? All good, because the TwoTimer folds down even when it’s loaded, so you can get at the snacks, and it folds up when empty, so you don’t accidentally back it into your friend’s truck when you roll up to the trailhead. There’s also an integrated bottle opener, so a post-ride cold one is always easy to enjoy.

Gets the job done, but won't buy again

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This this good value tier bike mount, but after using it for a year, loading up 2-3 times a week, it has not held up to my level of use.

The rubber on the hold down hooks wore off in the first couple months, so I replace it with a piece foam insulation from the hardware store. Also the rachting system on the hold down pole is difficult to operate and I frequently find myself hitting the release button with heavy objects to get it to release.

All in all thought it is a good option for the cost.

    perfect for tough installs.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I needed a 1 1/4 hitch but needed a longer reach and this was the only rack that worked. put something between your frame and the arm to ovoid paint wear.

    Value Bike-Rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great bike-rack if you don't want to spend $400+ on a mode of bike transportation. This rack tilts down to fit most car trunk accessibility, and is light weight as to not add extra bulk to your already heavy vehicle.

    Great value!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I comparison shopped much more than usual for a bike rack. There are so many more expensive options and I couldn't see why I would get those over this little Yakima. I read all of the reviews and decided to pull the trigger on this deal. Any fears I had were alleviated immediately. Easy to rack your bike - the tie downs are all super secure, intuitive to strap them on. I have no complaints.

    Amazing Bike Rack.

Easy mount and dismount. Easy install and super easy adjustments. Use it every weekend and try new trails every time makes life so much easier for me and a friend to spend the day in the hills or mountains.

    Long Hauler

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Take more friends with you and get those bikes out of the back. This rack is light, strong, and durable. It is a snap to install and fits multiple trailer hitch receiver sizes. Will fit road and mountain tires up to 2.5 no problem. Better look elsewhere for fat tire bikes. Otherwise a good all around rack for those travelers who like to bring the bikes.

    Decent rack for occasional use

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This rack is fairly easy to use, but installation has one glaring flaw that makes it a pain: instead of a cotter pin to keep the rack in the receiver of the hitch, it uses a bolt. This means you need to tighten it with a wrench -- a tedious process if there is limited clearance and you don't have the right size ratchet wrench.

Other than that, it's fine. Note that to accommodate a fat bike you need to buy different straps, which was not clear from the product description.

How well does this carrier do with full suspension mtn bikes? Specifically regarding the middle arm hold down?
