Stay dry, stay stoked.
Getting psyched to hit the trail when the weather's wet can be tough, but the dry, comfortable, and lightweight Talus Trek UltraDry Men's Hiking Boot makes it a little easier to get the stoke up and the legs moving. It's lighter than the standard Talus, making it better for day hikes, speedy missions, and hikes under lighter loads, and it fights off soggy weather with an UltraDry waterproof and breathable membrane and waterproof nubuck leather upper, so puddles, drizzle, and mud won't give your feet a hard time. Vasque decked the upper out with mesh panels, too, which improve breathability so you don't have to deal with sweat as well as wet weather.
Stability's key in a lightweight boot, so Vasque gave the Talus Trek a dual-density footbed, molded EVA midsole, and TPU shank to cushion your feet against rugged terrain and help prevent rolled ankles and twisted knees. The speedlace system lets you dial down a snug fit to increase comfort, reduce blisters, and prevent foot slop, and the sticky Vibram Nuasi sole features XSTrek rubber, which helps you walk up rocky slabs and muddy trails like you're a gecko walking across a wall.

Easy break in
I don't usually like boots; I prefer to hike in trail running shoes. I mostly hate the break in period of waterproof boots. These boots were comfortable from the first mile. No real break in required. I slogged through a lot of mud and the waterproofing holds up great. Only complaint, the sole on the top of the toe box started peeling away from the upper after only 20 or so miles. I'll try and glue it but kind of a drag.

My brother was getting his annual pair of hiking boots a few months ago and I was sure to make him buy a pair of Vasque boots. The pairs I've bought in the past they are the most bulletproof of all the boots I cycled through. Been using them for years. This pair in particular is one of my favorite designs because of the exterior being durable, the flexibility offered and structure. They preform excellently at being comfortable and serving as a multi-purpose boot. So I couldn't help ending up wearing these on a few occasions. With my Vasque experience I've never had to do my own water proofing because the ultra dry works far better than anything I have had to apply on boots on the past. I mean I've stepped in water up to my ankles and my feet stayed dry, with the boots drying off in a few hours like it never even happened. Also the Vibram outsoles kick butt as always. Recommend these.

Very supple, yet supportive, right out of the box. They fit my fairly narrow size 11 foot well, without having the laces drawn in like a football, as is the case with most boots. I used these boots for countless wet summer hikes in alaska, as well as a season of salmon fishing and a few months of framing houses. They still clean up very nicely. My only complaint is that the material is harder to waterproof than full-grain leather, but using a spray works well.
