Speed-focused hiking boots.
Whether they're stout hiking boots or lightweight trail runners, Salomon's footwear always have a design focused on moving fast through the mountains, and the Men's X Ultra 3 Mid GTX Hiking Boot is certainly no exception. The X Ultra is supportive and lightweight thanks to an Advanced Chassis that stabilizes the lightweight, breathable upper to keep you moving on the trail like you weren't carrying such a heavy backpack. Salomon backed the X Ultra with a Gore-Tex Performance Comfort membrane for reliable waterproofing and amplified breathability for hikers who really like to move through wet weather in search of sunnier skies.

- Q & A
Too narrow for my Flintstone feet
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought: 11.5
- Height: 5'11"
- Weight: 220lbs
I'm bummed. These looked very well constructed and durable, and very light weight. They are too narrow in the toe box area for my feet. I have wide feet (see title). Had to send them back. Will probably have to go back to Merrells.
Great Boot/Shoe hybrid!
- Size Bought: 10.5
- Height: 6'0"
- Weight: 200lbs
I normally hike in running shoes, and normally not Gore-Tex lined (for breathability reasons) but picked these boots up. They are really comfortable and easy to break in. I brought them down to Patagonia for two weeks of trekking and hanging around town. They did an excellent job in the variable and often wet conditions and the rough trails. When I had no choice but to get them wet fording a river they dried reasonably quickly.
Everyday Hiking Shoe
As a Salomon employee, the X Ultra 3 is my go-to everyday hiking boot. I prefer the mid for a bit more protection around the ankle, and some added stability. Watch the video below to learn more about the X Ultra!
I just bought these. They seem a little narrow in the middle of the foot. I own a pair of the quest and kinda remember they might have been but they are more bulky. Do you suggest maybe these ultras need some break in or maybe a wide?
