    Take flight.

Soar up tough trails to distant peaks, then gracefully glide back down the other side with the help of the Salomon Men's Wings Pro 2 Trail Running Shoe. It features Descent Control, which is a combination of design and material technologies that help improve comfort and performance when you're running downhill.

The Endofit internal fit sleeve hugs your midfoot and improves feedback for a snug, responsive fit that reduces fatigue and friction while enhancing foot feel. Friction-free Quicklaces won't force you to stop mid-way through a run to re-tighten your shoe. The Ortholite sockliner offers breathable cushioning, and the SensiFIT midsole cradles the foot from the midsole to the lace eyelets for the right blend of shock absorption, rebound, and protection. It's finished off with an aggressive Contagrip outsole for sure-footed grip on rugged terrain.

    Sub-optimal materials...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 185lbs

i bought these shoes because I needed a super supportive running shoe. The support is great, but the upper materials a very weak. After only 2 months and maybe 40 miles, the inside upper edges of the shoes are fraying and disintegrating.

    Sub-optimal materials...

    As many have noted...narrow

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 11

If you scroll down, you will see a review that I wrote for a pair that I bought a year ago and I mentioned that that pair seemed a bit narrower than the pair that I had purchased before. Well, I just bought my third pair, having worn the second pair to tatters, and this latest version is even narrower than the second set. They are now so narrow in the toe box that I had to send them back. It really is a shame because even though they don't last long, I really do like them quite a bit; light as a feather, well cushioned [while it lasts], and great traction...

    Not a fan

I’ve put 50 trail running miles on these so far. I normally wear the Salomon Speedcross but figured I’d try something different from Salomon. These feel heavier and bulkier yet the tongue material is so thin that when I tighten the laces as I would with the Speedcross it causes pain. I will say that on the downhills these shoes really feel great and give lots of control....you just have to lug them uphill first.

    Really good work shoes

I got these shoes for my boyfriends who is always on his feet and he said out of the 10 pairs of work shoes he has gone through that these are his favorite ones. They are very comfortable and have really good cushion.

      Slightly Narrow.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 10.5

Bought these for my husband. He said they are a bit more narrow than some of the other Salomon shoes he's owned. They are still comfortable and lightweight.

More narrow than the previous version

Still love the shoe. Light weight, well cushioned and nicely made. Appears to be narrower in the forefoot but has already stretched a bit after only ten miles of walking. The only downside is that (at least the last version) the sole was not long lived. The sole appears the same, so I am not confident that these will last any longer. First pair of trail runners where the sole gave out before the cushioning went flat. Still love them but wish that they were a bit tougher.

Great updates, but I'm not in love

I've worn through the XT Wings 1 and 2 and now own a pair of these. There are definitely some great updates since the XT2, but the XT2's seem to fit my feet a little better than this new model.

      The great updates are:

      - lightweight, low profile tongue with lace garage. The old tongue was pretty bulky and padded, but this one is hardly there mesh. Contours the instep better.

      - better traction with an updated design and larger lugs

      - same great toe protection and water resistant halfway up the shoe.

      - same great stability and a slightly lower 10mm drop. I think the XT2 is 12mm.

What I don't like as much:

      - the fit seems more narrow in the forefoot and even a smidge shorter length (by like .5mm)

      - the outsole does not flare out under the forefoot and heel as much as it used to, creating a sleeker profile but less contact area

      - rocks still get stuck in the tread under the midfoot/heel haha

Overall, I can't wear any other Salomons because I need the stability of the Wings series, and this one is a pretty darn good replacement. I hope to get many more miles out of them!

Great updates, but I'm not in love
