    Great Pots

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are a solid set of pots! I can tell they will last be many, many years. They're super easy to store with the carrying pouch and they stack up really nicely. Highly recommend!

    Like this set!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get the products to test from time to time. On this trip to the Narrows Reserve, I tested out the Primus Campfire Cookset - Large. I give this cookset a 5/5. I’ve only used it thrice; twice outside my hotel room because I’m tired of microwave food and once at the campsite. Here are some of my thoughts on the set:

It has some useful sizes. The pots are 1.8L and 3L. The 3L pot just fits in the frying pan. With that ensemble you can really cook up a storm. Or do what I’ve done and make spaghetti.

I haven’t used this part of it yet, but you can use the 3L pot over a fire. That’s pretty cool! If you have some recipes I should try like that, just let me know.

They are easy to clean! Seriously. Granted I’ve only used them for spaghetti and brownies, but I can’t complain. I’m currently living in a hotel room and doing dishes in the bathtub. They’re still pretty darn shiny all things considered.

The lids have strainers. Both of them. So useful. I will say though that the large pot is kinda difficult to turn over to strain. The handle sometimes want’s to slip out of its notch and you have to gasp real loud and catch it.

Quickly becoming our favorite pot set

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We received this Primus Campfire Cookset for product testing as Rangers with the Dyrt. We've used it on our 2-burner propane stove in our adventure rig, over an open camp fire, and on our backcountry stove. We’ve had the same backcountry pot set for nearly 20 years and it’s held up well, but this one has some extra features which we like even better! We’ve made everything from soup to pasta to chili to omelets so far, and our creative “foodie juices” are flowing.

What we like about this product:
    1. The 2 nesting pots and sauté pan pack down to a nice size for both backpacking and sea kayak camping, and easily fit into their carry bag.
    2. Each pot has a different style of foldaway handle, unique to the size, weight, and use of the pot.
    3. The leather “tabs” on the lids/handle allow you to remove the lids without a pot grip or oven mitt.
    4. The largest pot is a 3L capacity. That’s a ton of capacity, so it works great for soup, pasta, and can easily feed a hungry group of 4.
    5. The sauté pan makes a great omelet pan! Eggs slide right off with just a bit of oil in the skillet.
    6. Everything is made out of durable stainless steel so it is easy to clean and should stay rust free for many years.
    7. The steam vents on the 2 pot lids are great for preventing boil-overs and for straining out liquid.

    What could be improved:
    1. If the 3L pot lid was large enough to fit over the sauté pan, that would be a great addition as you could keep food warm while something else is still cooking.
    2. When out in the backcountry, everything you bring needs to be sturdy, and it’s great if it has a second use. The first time we used this set, a hole appeared in the bottom seam of the bag. It’s an easy fix with some needle and thread, but was disappointed that it wasn’t more robustly constructed. Also, if the bag was made out of something that would hold water, it could serve as a small wash bucket as well as a bag to keep the stack together.
    3. Include a set of pot insulators (or sell them separately), so that soup and pasta stay warm well after you’ve taken them off the fire during the colder months.

    Beautiful camp set

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This set of pots is my new favorite camping item. We decided to get some new pots for our Sprinter this summer and I am so glad we chose these. Not only are they beautiful, but they are well thought out as well. The little leather tag on the handles allows you to grab them without worrying about how hot it is. The small holes in the lids are great for steaming and draining.
