    'Good' On-Sale Shorts.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 197lbs

The fabric is 'interesting' and a nice alternative to my (preferred) nylon active shorts; comfortable, and will likely wear/age well. I love the length, but I'm a Hoosier and admire Larry Bird! The back-pocket(s) snaps are small, and a little tricky to snap shut. The 'belt' is kinda disappointing. Too short to (almost, but I'm losing weight) reach the belt stay/loop, and...the belt will loosen fairly easily, requiring a cinch-down. 3 Stars.

    Great performance shorts.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I have an older pair of the Cotton Gi Pants that are 100% cotton, and this newer pair of the Gi Shorts, that have the polyester twill added in. The feel is certainly different, but if you're looking for the Performance aspect, these shorts do the job and then some. They're lightly stretchy and have a gusseted crotch that's comfortable on the trail and off. If you're doing anything active—climbing, hiking, etc.—the added polyester is great to keep you cool and again, give you stretch. The integrated belt is just so damn comfortable, stretches comfortably at the waist but has a secure fit and is super easy to use. Would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a good hiking short or just to improve your every day life with enhanced comfort. I've read a lot of negative reviews about the changes. I never had an old pair of the shorts, but love these ones a lot.

    Don't fix whats not broken

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

They are nothing like the previous models and shouldn't even be called Gi shorts. The length is very short and they are made of cheap cotton, you look like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in them

    Awesome Shorts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I've bought several different shorts from Patagonia, NorthFace, Under Armor, etc.

The G III's are my favorites BY FAR (second pair!). I use them mainly for going to the gym and love the number/arrangement of pockets. They're good for running around town & hiking too though. Pretty sure these are my favorite shorts I've ever owned.

    Great shorts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 155lbs

    I have a 32-33in waist so I went with a medium.

Lightweight, plenty range of motion and they dry quickly. Those are the things that I look for in my fishing shorts. These shorts have all that and an adjustable waist band which is a functional piece not just a gimmick. I highly recommend these and I'll be getting another pair soon.

    Versatile

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I bought these shorts for a climbing expedition, and absolutely fell in love with them. Not only are they stylish (I plan to wear them casually going forward), but they are also functional -- top-notch material and quality. They kept me dry, did not rip or tear, and breath well.

    Bombproof

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 230lbs

I've had these badboys for 5 years and used and abused them on the beach and wet wading for trout from the Tetons to Michigan and beyond. They are warriors in the hot yoga studio, and don't be afraid to dip below parallel in the gym or on the dance floor with the gusseted crotch (I'll roll the waist line once or twice to shorten up the inseam and tighten the fit around the thigh if I'm really getting active). Really the only wear and tear is a small hole in the butt and some various stains from who knows what. GD Classic.

Best Shorts I have Ever Owned

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'0"

I am going to try keep this review short (no pun intended.) These shorts are one of the best pieces of gear I have ever owned. I have owned one pair for a year now and they show almost no real wear even though they have gotten 50+ days of use. I just purchased another pair today.

Fit: Medium fits me great. I am 6 foot and wear a 31 waist. The legs are a little baggy but I have small legs. I like the elastic band and adjustable belt.

Design: Very light and comfortable nylon material. I have used them in water and on land, in the office and out on the trail. I have used them kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, sleeping, and just about every thing imaginable. Surprisingly they kept me most dry in an hour long downpour. They also have a UPF 50 rating to keep you protected from the son as well. I also like the zip pockets on the side and back so your items won't fall out.

Quality: Patagonia makes some of the products on the market. I've never had an issue with these shorts.

Cons: I would give these shorts a 9.5/10. They are really awesome but they aren't perfect. The Material is so light that it can make carrying heavy items in your pockets unfortable. Could use two back zippers instead of one.

I would 100% recommend this product.

Great shorts but some sizing variations

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I have 3 pairs of Gi-III's purchased in late 2016 and early 2017 and love them for backpacking and hiking. The material was light enough to be comfy on a recent trip to Death Valley but tough enough for a long day of class 3 & 4 boulder scrambles on sandstone (not as tough as Prana's Zion though). Dries quick too. Medium worked well for my 33" waist (large was too big). Really liked how the waist button is super secure, unlike snaps. Also liked the no-slip belt. I don't understand the comments about these being too baggy. I have shorts from various makers 5 to 10 years old and those are baggy! This is in comparison a slimmer cut but not tight and still roomy enough for rough hiking/backpacking.

Only complaint I have is there's some size variation within the same size. I bought mediums at different times from different sites (including BC) and noticed some were looser fitting than others (I preferred the looser variation). So try them on if you can, otherwise buy from places like BC with good return policies.

    Great shorts but baggy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

These are a great lightweight adventure short. They fit great but the legs are a little too baggy. The UPF 50 is nice for long days in the sun and they dry very quickly if they get wet.

    Light but baggy

    • Fit: Runs large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 175lbs

In my humble opinion, these shorts are very baggy. I like the pocket design and the built-in belt, but could do with a lot less fabric flapping around my legs.

    Feels so good

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 185lbs

Fit just like I thought they would. Feel great for all the activities that the product description shares.

    So far they are killer

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 155lbs

***I am going to start this review off with the precursor that I have yet to do anything seriously active or in water with these shorts***

I got these shorts to add to my arsenal of all around, do everything, adventuring shorts. They have awesome features such as a quick-dry material, enough pockets for the essentials, a gusseted crotch, draining pockets, an already-faded look, an integrated belt, and a super sturdy feeling button. They are the perfect length for my style and I don't see too much stretching going on.

I am about 6', 155lbs, and my waist is 30 on a good day. I bought the size small and they are perfect for me.

I could see these shorts being amazing for hiking, rafting, camping, climbing, boating, traveling, and drinking at the lake. There is no mesh liner so wearing some undies would be recommended (plus they have a zipper so commando could mean danger). Another note is that the tolerance for the button hole is actually so tight that I had trouble getting them buttoned initially. My guess is it'll get easier over time.

    So far so GREAT!

These shorts really do it all

I am 5'11 and weigh 180 with a waist size of around 33 and large fits perfect. What I really like about these is the adjustable belt that is sewn into the shorts. There are drainage holes in the pockets so these shorts can be used as swim trunks. The shorts dry very quickly after they get wet. They are very comfortable and very well designed. I would recommend these shorts to any adventurer out there. These are a true "GoTo" pair of shorts
