    Really Comfortable!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 160lbs

    Per my husband:

7" is great length for trails and not too short for the gym. Boxer brief style liner is extremely comfortable, not too tight, doesn't ride up, it's very breathable and has a really silky smooth feel so no chafing! Even when the liner is wet there is no chafing! So these are always used on my long runs and I don't have to carry anti-chafing salve. I'm a heavy sweater running in the SE heat and humidity so the outside layer does soak through on long days. The odor control appears to work well! Plenty of pockets for gels and even bars. I own two of black and the blue/orange. Only complaint is the current version uses a string as a zipper pull for the rear pocket. They came off after the first wash and lost them. Just find a better knot than the cow hitch knot Patagonia uses and it should stay on.

    Really Comfortable!

    Still running ...

I own several pairs of past model strider pro's (5 inch and 9 inch) and these provide all of the same features at a different length option. I have worn them recently on day hikes and trail runs in weather conditions that ran the gamut and on terrain that included some rocky scrambles and dense bushwacks and they show no wear and tear despite being snagged a few times. The stash pockets are big enough for trail food and light accessories. I carried 3 cliff bars, a houdini and an iphone without feeling like the shorts were too weighed down. They resist water and dry quickly if they do become soaked (the liner takes longer to dry). One change from other models is these have a bike short type liner. I typically cut out the liner and wear my own compression undergarment, but i have been wearing these with the built in liner and I have not experienced any chaffing. My only complaint would be the liner material is a bit too thick for my preference and makes the shorts feel hotter. They fit true to size, if a bit roomier than other versions.

    Best shorts I own

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 135lbs

I own two pairs of these shorts. I find them very comfortable and I love the available storage. The two larger stash pockets will fit my MSR trailshot so for most runs with available water along the way I don't need to bring a bottle which is nice. I was able to fit 5 12oz beers in the shorts which is a bonus. I have not had any problems with the draw cord it stays tight and needs to be non elastic or the shorts wouldn't work. i find the boxer type liner more comfortable than my shorts with a regular liner. One thing to note is they do shrink a bit with washing.

    Great short

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 205lbs

I really like these. The liner makes them great for working out, whether running, using the elliptical or exercise bike in the gym, hiking it whatever. Multiple clever pockets. My new favorite.

    Draw string.....

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

Love these shorts I have a couple pair both with long liner and standard "brief" style

Pockets that work and don't bounce things
Rear pocket holds IPHONE 6(s) in waterproof case
    liner is breathable (both versions)
    Colors are great
    very light

Drawstring on this years (2017?) are thinner and appear to be smaller than my previous years (2015?) not sure the reason, just dont like the "newer" string/drawcord.
COST- HOLY COW, I can only afford on clearance or discount ( thank you BACKCOUNTRY) I keep myself plugged in to the e-flyers/product updates.

    Different liner

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 6'2"

Purchased these for my husband, thinking they would be similar to his previous pair of Patagonia Strider shorts. However, the liner in this pair is more like bike shorts and he finds this uncomfortable. Apparently this is now true of all styles of Patagonia running shorts. It may work for others, but he prefers the old liner style.
