    A brief liner?

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I was put off when I tried these on because of the brief liner as opposed to every other running short with boxer brief style liners. The pockets are fantastic, they’re nice and breezy, comfortable, etc. but then I notice the liner again. I’m baffled at such a great company making a perfect pair of shorts and ruining them with such a thing. I can’t believe more people don’t complain? I didn’t even know this style of liner/underwear even existed in 2018. All in all they are still my favorite shorts and worth buying. Just be prepared to readjust the liner constantly, and make sure that no one is looking when you do.

    Best running shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

Super comfortable lightweight shorts. Liner plus the synthetic breezy outer make these the best running shorts. Pockets on either side and one in the back means you have ample stash pockets for keys and whatnot. Great buy.
NOTE: Make sure to read the sizing. I typically wear a Medium but bought a small.

I got these shorts in a size medium for my 5'11'', 170lbs boyfriend. He is a cyclist and has fairly large legs, which makes these shorts a little tight on him. I would recommend getting a size up if you have larger legs. Besides sizing, I would recommend these! My boyfriend always expresses how free he feels running in these.

    Lightweight and Durable

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I Have been a long time fan of Patagonia gear and these shorts only fuel that feeling. The length is perfect; they are light weight and will dry quickly. They will be great shorts for neighborhood jogs and long runs.

My new favorite short, especially the Dolomite Blue color! I just ordered another pair. Light weight, side pockets, and rear zip pocket are some of the highlights. Soft waist band material is perfect as well. These will be my R2R2R shorts for 2018!

    Awesomeness in hiking shorts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been on a quest for the perfect hiking shorts. They had to be comfy, not stink after one use, and have great pockets. Bingo! Just bought my second pair. I was somewhat skeptical re: the anti-stink technology, but I've put it to the test and it's the best I've ever experienced. These are now my go-to hiking shorts. They have lasted.

Time to Replace My Old Running Shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For probably 8+ years now I've been running exclusively in Pearl Izumi Infinity shorts. I honestly loved them so much, I bought and hoarded them like Elaine bought and hoarded sponges on Seinfeld. But, Pearl Izumi has moved on with new styles and frankly that doesn't always mean "better" to me. So I set out to explore the possibilities. I have tried several shorts now from Pearl Izumi, Hoka and Patagonia.

Here's what I really like about the Patagonia Strider. It provides a nice tight but not-so-tight fit. I like all my goods to stay in the same place. But I don't want to be choked either. Patagonia Strider won that battle against the other brands. I really like the 5 in inseam, but some shorts with 5 in inseams seem to look a hell of a lot short than that. Patagonia was right where I expected it to be. Lastly, I have muscular legs and I really want to know that the shorts give me lots of room to move in all directions - especially when trial running. Again, the Patagonia Strider took the trophy.

I have not yet tried the pockets. They are deeper than I expected, but I am cautious about the unclosable opening. I tend not to like to carry much in the pockets of my running shorts other than possibly a car key (the Strider does have the small zipper pocket on the back like most shorts do).

    Two thumbs up!

I just picked up a pair of these shorts a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love these. I mainly use them for running (road and trail) and they are so comfortable. They are nice and short so those white legs can get some sun. The liner on the inside is pretty snug, but still very comfortable. But it is the endless amount of pockets that seem to really, truly make these shorts the best. There are pockets everywhere and big enough for a water bottle or a phone, plus the zippered pocket on the back big enough to fit an iPhone 6. Love them. I normally wear a 31 or 32 in pants and the Small fit me perfectly.

Patagonia short looks great but clings.

It doesn't absorb sweat very well, making the whole mess clings to my skin after 4 miles of running. Also the string attached to the zipper on the back is very flimsy and came off after the first use. The short looks and fits great, so I desperately wanted to give it another try, but the clinging sweat wasn't a one time event. So disappointed.

    feels like nothing !

These shorts have been a blessing! Running here in utah it can get pretty hot in the summer and these shorts are nice and light so a great pick for any runner. They are light weight breath well and come in an awesome range of colors so you can pick something right up your ally ! their fit is right on point and with the lace tie you can ensure they stay snug on any run!

Hi John, excuse me I have a question about the size that you bought and it's a little weird. I'm interested in this shorts, but I want to know if your waist is in this range of waist for size M = 31-33 accordingly to the size chart?, I'm just to use M in nike but my waist is 36 inch. Thanks for your answer, regards.

    Hands down best running shorts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I've tried numerous different running shorts. These are by far the best. Pockets are great. They dry quickly. The best. I have several pair.

    Super Trail Shorts

I own two of these(Size L) & they are probably the most comfortable pairs of shorts I own. Don't really use them for trail running, but other than that I use them for pretty much all else. They are super light weight, quick to dry, the liner is very comfortable. One feature I love the most about the shorts is the stretchy 4 side pockets, which allows you to stash tons of stuff in thrm.

      Great Short!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 165lbs

Lightweight feel and stretchy fabric make them my go to short for runs and plyometric workouts. Waistband does not ride up or bunch. Run a little shorter/tighter than other 5in shorts I have bought. Highly recommend.

Best shorts for really long runs

      • Height: 6'2"

I own 4 pairs of these shorts. I've used them extensively and they are my go-to shorts for long days. They are comfortable, unrestrictive, durable, and the pockets, the pockets!

The Strider Pro shorts have the biggest pockets of any trail running shorts I've found. The latest version has the largest pockets yet. They have 4 gel type stretchy pockets and one zippered pocket. All of the pockets are very large compared to other shorts (TNF Better than Naked, for example). The front gel pockets are a bit bigger and you could easily fit a phone in them. You could also fit 3-4 gels per pocket or other snacks, and even some windshirts and light gloves fit in the pockets. With a handheld bottle and some intermediate water sources, you could do very long all day runs with these shorts with no other storage required.

In the old version of these shorts you could change the draw string so that it was tied behind or in front of the wasteband. You can't do that now and it's stuck on the outside. I am also happy to see these offered in plain black now.
