This jacket is amazing. Crazy light, packs down into its own pocket, versatile from the trail to the office, synthetic, and warm. I've worn this as my only warmth layer at 13k feet in the Rockies during some cold spells without being cold at all. You'll also be hard pressed to find a company that does more for the environment and our public lands than Patagonia if you need any other incentive to buy this jacket. Oh, and Patagonia's repair program is legendary if you ever have any issues with your jacket.

    Great jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I purchased this jacket a few months ago and love it! I keep finding opportunities to wear it. Light enough to wear in warmer leather, yet warm enough to wear in colder weather

    Love this jacket

I love this jacket so much that this is my second one. This jacket is a perfect lightweight jacket that keeps me warm without causing me to overheat. It packs down into its own pocket which allows me to take it anywhere.

already have the nano puff hoody, decided to get the jacket too. love this thing and it seems to have a thicker material than the hoody that is a few years old. they're not super tough, but if you're careful with them, there's nothing better. put them under a shell for winter activities. fantastic jacket.

Nothing beats a Nano Puff. Can be worn alone, or as a layering piece. Can be worn as casual piece, or an outdoors go-to. Great warmth to weight, even when wet. Simply the best. Highly recommend. I am 6’1” and 195, and the large fit perfectly.

Another great jacket from Patagonia. Have several of this jacket , one in Black & one hooded in Paintbrush Red. This new addition is Dolomite Blue. They are great go to jackets for all seasons. I use them as a mid layer in colder weather. Use them for ever day casual
around town, camping, hiking, wear ever I'm headed. Patagonia clothing is my go to choice, from jackets, pullovers & vests.

This jacket does exactly what it’s supposed to do - keep you warm. I’ve been using it in temperatures between 20-40 and as long as I’m moving around, the jacket keeps me warm. In my opinion it’s perfect. It doesn’t make me sweat when I’m sitting down in doors, but when I’m around moving outside it does it’s job and it does it well. I recently jumped across a small, frozen stream in Little Cottonwood Canyon and slid across rough ice while wearing the jacket. I immediately assumed I had torn or frayed the jacket, but to my surprise, the jacket showed no signs of wear. I was stunned! Patagonia has done a great job with this product and I will continue to wear my jacket nearly every day.

      My Hoodless Nano Puff

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium

This is a fitted not a regular/traditional jacket i.e. returned size Small for a Medium. Relatively speaking, to keep you warm you need to have a light layer/sweater esp when the temp is in the 40's and heavier sweater when it's in the 30's outside. Other than being fitted by design, it's well made but wish the zipper was a bit bigger. I feel that this jacket is not breathable and have to open up the front zipper to allow ventilation from time to time. it would have helped if air vents in the armpit area were provided. The biggest complaint I have is not about the product but the delivery of this jacket. I have to reroute this jacket to my residential address from my post office box. (Wish this was stated earlier prior to completing the purchase eform. ) Gave Bcountry my residential address and when I got it, my name wasn't even on the shipping label; see attachment. So now I have to show proof to the holder of my jacket that it was really mine. What a hassle. Part of a good customer experience not only relates to the product itself but also how I as a customer received my product and on this point Backcountry failed to deliver.

      My Hoodless Nano Puff

nano puff is solid and versatile

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: xl
      • Height: 6'4"
      • Weight: 190lbs

I've had this jacket for a couple of months--I have the navy with paintbrush red accents (that actually look more orange to me). I'm 6'4 190 lbs and I got the XL. The fit is good, and a bit baggy--but I like that for the versatility it provides. I can wear a shirt + sweater underneath this and use is as an outer jacket in moderate winter conditions (25-45F). I've also used it as a midlayer under a shell for skiing and it did a great job there too. As others have said, it is warmer than you would guess as it is extremely light in terms of weight, but it is very warm. I would give this piece 5 stars--i like it a lot!

Great midlayer to add to any arsenal

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Patagonia Nano Puff is such a unique piece! The synthetic insulation allows for superb active insulation, but the tiled construction of the insulation pockets give it the look of a more traditional down jacket. I find this jacket to be very useful as a midlayer or outerlayer in tame winter/fall conditions, as the jacket's 60g Primaloft Gold Eco construction provides ample insulation while keeping the profile minimal. I have found this jacket greatly compliments the Arcteryx Atom AR, as it is a lighter alternative (has 1/2 the insulation density as the Atom AR) which makes it perfect for temps that the AR is too warm for.

Warmer Than I thought it would be

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'5"
      • Weight: 170lbs

This is a great jacket. Size seem true to fit, but it is form fitting a bit. So true to modern fit I guess you could say. It is much warmer than the thickness and weight would imply. Overall great buy, plus I like Patagonia as a company so win win.

I'm 5'7'' and about 148 lbs with 31.5 waist so what size should I get (I prefer a little loose jacket).
      Thank you!

      Hey Tuan,

At your profile and preference of fit, I would size with a size small on the Nano Puff. It has more of a regular fit to it, so that should pan out quite nicely. Give me a holler if you'd like me to setup an order for you!

How does the warmth of this jacket compare to the traditional Patagonia down sweater jacket? I have the down sweater jacket, and am looking for a lightweight, early spring alternative that can be worn comfortably in 25-45 degree weather?

Is this jacket enough for colder conditions with a layer underneath? Maybe 25 degrees and below? I'm in upstate NY where it can be really chilly!

      Hey Amy,

I am also from Upstate New York (Lake Placid), so I know how you feel about the cold. I would say this Nano Puff would not be warm enough to wear as a stand alone jacket. It's a great mid-layer because it's compact and light - but wearing this jacket in freezing temps wouldn't keep you super warm. Some other jackets you may want to consider: Patagonia Windsweep Down Hooded Jacket , or even: Outdoor Research Incandescent Hooded Down Jacket. Something with more loft and insulation is key for those NY frigid temps.

Let me know if you have any other questions and Happy Holidays!
