    Almost too much space.

Commuting to work inside a massive military tank probably won’t go over well with authorities, but at least you get to use the Patagonia 732 cu in Black Hole Mini Messenger Bag to feel just as intimidating. It has the same kickass durability as that tough equipment from its 450D polyester ripstop material and TPU-film laminate, and it has a convenient DWR finish to protect it against the elements. Whether you’re traveling on your bike, skateboard, subway, or plane, the adjustable shoulder strap easily stays in place while the top-mounted handle offers versatility when you go through airport security. The top flap opens to expose the main compartment that holds your rain jacket and snacks, and there are multiple pockets (including a space for your laptop).

    Nearly perfect

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I ended up returning this bag for just one reason I couldn’t get past. It’s a bit longer than the old school mini mass, but that was fine and could still work as my every day bag. And the shiny material grew on me too. But the strap placement was awkward to me. The ends of the crossbody strap are attached to the back of the bag, rather than the ends of the bag. Still love Patagonia and still love backcountry.com for carrying so much great stuff - just wasn’t comfortable for me to carry crossbody. Maybe someone carrying it on the shoulder wouldn’t have an issue.

    Great Quality and Size

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This bag does it all for its size! It fits laptops, clothes, hiking items and a lot of other useful things. The "black hole" name is very fitting. The color options are great looking and the quality of the material and zippers is what you would expect from Patagonia. I Highly recommend this bag.

    The bag of many uses

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used this for many things. Its perfect for carrying my laptop to and from work. It also works nicely as a fly fishing bag for a day on the river. It has lots of pockets and plenty of storage space.

Very versatile and rugged messenger bag!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this bag for travel as a carry on but also as a work bag. It holds a ton of stuff! I put lunch, a tablet, an umbrella, a jacket and music folders in it and still have room for misc items I might grab and stuff in on the spur of the moment. It has several inside organizational pockets. It durable and can be wiped off if dirty. It's a bit more fun the then usual work case, the fun colors make it a great all around briefcase and/or travel bag.

    Perfect for 15" Laptop

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this bag as a general purpose bag to carry around my 2016 15" MacBook Pro and could not be happier. It fits the computer like a glove, provides ample storage for papers, cables, etc. and is still actually really small.

I've been stuck in a quick rainstorm too and my computer stayed safe because of the way the front of the bag folds over the computer pocket.

The only downsides are the lack of a water bottle holder and a padded strap, but overall I've been extremely happy with my purchase and have used it daily for work and travel since I got it.

    Petite size for petite wife

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My wife loves this for hauling a laptop and a few other items (nalgene, a few books or folders, lunch). She's not much over 5' and the bigger messenger bags dwarf her small frame and encourage her (or me) to overload it with uneeded stuff. Its got that famous patagucci black hole build, look and quality. And price... But like all our patagonia stuff, will last a long time making it a good value overall.

    Lover Of Black Holes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have virtually every size of Black Hole bag available. I justified this purchase because I recently had a flight on Spirit Airlines, and apparently you are allowed one purse or murse for free. I ended up using this murse the whole trip instead of my 32L black hole backpack as it fit everything you needed for a day.

As a side note; there were many people with much larger (personal items) on my Spirit airlines flight, and none of the airline employees said anything.
You should probably purchase this anyways just to be safe ;)

    It's really tiny

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Back hole gear is great, nice compartments, but it's small. Like, three-nalgenes total-space small. Ordered it for work to throw a binder, zip around wallet, and water bottle into...bottle wouldn't fit. Returned and will order regular size.

    Missionary Worthy

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this bag and ended up giving it to a friend as a gift for his LDS mission. He absolutely loves the bag! He says it is incredibly durable and he loves the look. Outdoorsy, yet classy. He gets compliments all the time about how it looks and how much it can hold. He is in Finland and he says the rainy or snowy weather won't matter to him because he knows the bag can handle it.

    My go-to bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you are looking to buy a messenger bag-look no further. This bag is amazing. They don't call it the Black Hole bag for no reason; it seriously fits way more than you would think. This bag is absolutely perfect as a "personal item" carry-on for traveling by plane. It can comfortably fit your laptop, water bottle, food, camera, extra clothes, etc. I am very impressed with this bag. It is durable, water-resistant, and extremely convenient.

    Patagonia does it again!

Best messenger bag! Small and compact but still fits everything you need it to, like a laptop. I might be a bit biased because I also own the matching duffel and backpack...If you are looking for a messenger bag you will love this one!

Great bag, but NO water bottle holder

It's like a more waterproof, bomber version of the Patagonia Mini Mass bag, except it doesn't have a side water bottle holder nor a rear outside, magazine-sized back sleeve. Also, the laptop sleeve comfortably fits a 13" laptop and the tablet sleeve only fits iPad Air and not older iPads. A 15" laptop is a tight squeeze.

        A Bottomless Vacuum of Space

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I decided to get the mini version of this and could not be happier with the decision; the amount of space being ideal for going to school or work. It has a padded sleeve for a tablet, as well as a bigger one for a laptop and folders, than there are a number of side pockets that zip, a side place that a waterbottle fit into, and the various straps to clip things on. The strap on this bag is extremely comfortable, easy to adjust, and allows the bag to sit perfectly on your lower-to-mid back. The materials this bag is made of are quite durable, and the outer DWR coating provides a good layer of protection from the rain. Over-all one of the best bags I have bought, and the best messenger bag so far.

        A Bottomless Vacuum of Space

        Bomber Bag

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ordered this for my Girlfriend and it's a great well made computer bag. It easily had room for her laptop and a couple of books with room for some personal effects like a wallet and sunglasses case. It's Patagonia so you know that the company will stand behind it.

Does it come with a waist belt? I'm looking for something I can commute with on my motorcycle and want to ensure I can secure it while riding.
