What goes in never comes out.

Patagonia's Black Hole 25L Daypack has a strong gravitational pull towards your hiking gear, but that doesn't mean you can't fill it with your school work. This daypack takes a nod toward alpine packs, with a light-yet-strong ripstop shell coated with a TPU film and Durable Water-Resistant finish. Heavy-duty molded padding gives the shoulder straps and back panel a comfy ride. A tube port lets the laptop sleeve double as a hydration sleeve, and there are side stretch pockets for water bottles.

    Love this backpack!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this backpack to be able to put all of my "extras" in for airline travel. It is most definitely good for that but even works great to put enough things for a weekend trip! It holds way more than I anticipated it to, and its extremely durable and comfortable to wear. I plan to use it for both day trips and weekend trips in the future and can't wait to see how it does!

    Best backpack I've ever had

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this backpack because I needed a good day pack to climb Mt. Shasta from the base camp. It fits great and feels like it's contoured to you back's shape. There is not a waist belt (which is fine with me because those just seem to get in the way on most of my other day packs), but rather a chest strap to help keep the pack in place. It performed well on the mountain and on subsequent day hikes, but has also become my go to travel pack to carry-on for long flights. If you are even a little bit organized, this pack will hold a ton! Highly recommend it for both outdoor and general travel use.

    Killer Pack

Durable, waterproof, Patagonia, need I say more?
This backpack really will last you a long time and does a lot! The laptop pouch is just right for your 15" macbook, loaded with pockets for storage, and comfy shoulder straps make this a really great option for everyday use.

    Great bag

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

i bought this bag for my wife to use while out and about or traveling and find myself wanting to buy one for myself. It's the perfect size bag for a workbag or a day pack. We've used it a ton since we bought it. It was a great purchase.

    Great Work Bag

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this bag everyday going to work and I love the way it easily stores everything I need it to. It fits my larger laptop in the case with no problem and it also stays clean and dry for when the weather is not so great. Can't say enough good things about this backpack.

    Perfect Portland Backpack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best all-rounder, go-to backpack! Its super waterproof for rainy days if you have a laptop or something you need to keep dry. The zippers are high quality, and there is tons of organizational options on the inside of the bag if you need them! I have no complaints thus far!

    For my Pops

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This is rad. great aesthetic and worth it for city or light mountain use. Gave it to my dad for his trip to Europe. He thinks it is awesome. So you should too. Perfect for a laptop, emergency clothes/jacket and some travel essentials.

    Great Day Pack. Although

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Wanted to review this bag for a long time now. I have owned it for almost 2.5 years. I bought this with the mindset of a durable day hiking pack that I could also use for school. It has served me will and continues to do so. Solid construction, comfortable, stylish. I would highly recommend this, for both the trail and the daily work/school pack.

One thing to note. It has no bottom strap to secure the back to your back at the bottom. For all city related activities I cannot see this being that big a deal. But out on the trail there are times when I am scrambling or doing more than walking and the bag can bounce around a little (especially depending on how much weight is in it). Nothing to make me not want to use it but I do think its worth mentioning.

    Great Day Pack. Although

    Travel Bag for the win

This bag is truly perfect for adventure. I have used it commuting on bikes, walking through the rain, and bustling through airports. It gets the job done while staying durable and looking sleek. Patagonia's Black Hole line is so good.

      Matching backpacks

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this backpack for myself (see earlier review) and my boyfriend was so jealous that we now have matching backpacks, it's that great, plain and simple. We're that couple now...

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ladies love the Patagonia Black Hole (25L Back)Pack. Seriously, since I bought this, it has started at least one conversation for me with a women. That is 100% more conversations than I've had in the whole year previous, and it was because of the backpack. It's a real conversation starter.

      I use it on my daily bike commute to work, Whole Foods, the bar, and back home. One day at the local Whole Foods a girl said, "nice pack" I said, "thanks, is the mochi good here?" she said, "yes", it was radical! That conversation alone was worth the price of this pack, but if that's not enough for you, here's some other neat stuff;
The secure and elegant laptop sleeve doubles as a hydration pocket for your favorite hydration bladder.
If you're a real water fan the stretch-woven side pockets are perfect water bottle holders.
And the heavy-duty molded back panel is nice on long rides.
Get this pack if you like water, and nice stuff.

      Fantastic Commuter

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great daily driver for the commuter. It holds everything you will need and has pockets to organize everything. This bag will also protect it's contents from rain and harsh weather.

      Perfect Work Bag

This backpack has become my go-to work backpack, as the pockets and organization inside make it easy to carry a laptop, notebook, pens, and other personals. Pockets on the side also are great for a water bottle, and a small top pocket are perfect to hold your wallet and keys. Great design, super functional.

Looks cool. And also functions well.

I just took this mafuuu to the great sand dunes, and had all my stuff plus laptop GoPro etc in there and with me the whole time. Sand consumes my life but I have yet to find a single grain inside this bag. This is of grave importance, because I just can’t keep using bags that get sand in them once. Plus everyone thinks it looks cool

          Great bag

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have several duffel bags and backpacks in the black hole series, and I love them. They are super durable, and work great. This pack in particular is very spacious for the size, and I appreciate the other color on the inside so you can find stuff easier.

          Perfect travel pack

Over the years I have had several different type of day packs for camping, going international and just day to day use. I was looking for a bag I could take to school and just as easily on a plane to my next overseas destination. This bag accomplishes that. It's simple design just makes it a joy to carry and you can cram so much into it. I believe it is a must have for a daily traveler.

            Great School Bag

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love that I don't have to worry about my things getting wet. Plus this is a good size that can hold a lot of things but isn't overwhelming. There's lots of small pouches inside for different things but I mostly use the zippered pouch on the top part. I also like that the water bottle holders are tight so things don't fall out but stretch to fit larger Nalgenes. I also like that the laptop section is padded because that makes me feel even safer carrying stuff in this bag. It fits well on the shoulders too. I/ve had it for a couple years now and it still looks brand new.

            Lucky Pack!

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really dig this bag, and I bring it everywhere with me. In the PNW, it's important to have weather-proof gear. This bag keeps my stuff dry (the material is completely waterproof - the zippers aren't sealed, though, so I am wary about true downpours) on bike rides and my daily commutes. I stuff everything from laptops (great padded pouch) and books in here, to all my climbing gear, my snow stuff... The daisy-chain is tough, the pockets are HUGE, the brain section is awesome, and I really dig the colors! This bag has become my every-day-every-thing partner in crime.

            Durable and Immaculate

            • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

So I got this backpack for school purposes and was overly surprised when I actually had it in my hand. The color and description are accurate, the think looks like it could withstand a hurricane, and there are plenty of spaces inside to organize my stuff.

            Unanswered Question

Does the bottom of this backpack have padding on the inside that would keep a textbook from wearing through it?
